'The Bicycle as a Vehicle of Protest'

'Bicycles take over Flatbush Ave. during a protest.
'Bicycles are powerful things--inexpensive, versatile tools that can be used by dissenters to sneak up and speed off, to organize and mobilize and elude.'

Why would you need to "sneak up" and what would you have done to need to "speed off"?

I grew up during the later 60s and we protested and stayed to get arrested.

You are a better person than I. I did indeed attend a protest at night on my bike, and did a lot of speeding off. I feel like a horrible person for admitting this, but it was the most fun I had in a long time.

Danger is exciting.

Next time toss a pair of women's panties under the bed and wait for the wife to find them

I wouldn't take you for one to have been arrested. How many protests were you arrested at?

twice, but i was a minor.

Nothing wrong about getting arrested for civil disobedience. But having a bicycle for a "quick get away" implies you did something criminal.

Now I understand why I keep seeing so much video of cyclists being [pick your action verb] by the police during these protests.

William Shatner has discontinued his new line of lingerie.

Apparently, Shatner panties wasn’t the best choice for a name.

Sorry to the OP if i derailed this very important topic of the use of a bicycle as a tool of civil rights. Because if Rosa Parks ran out of the back door instead of staying and getting arrested, she would of been just another unnamed person. Staying take courage.

Staying and being "counted" is more important, in my opinion, than using a bike to hit and run.
