Brake lever replacement

I broke my brake lever left side and got another used one just noticed instead of 2 cables there are 3 on the newer one can I still use it.?
its a road bike that I put a motor in the front wheel I only used it on the big crank, top gear

The middle fitting is for a cable that goes to a "dashboard" that mounts to the handlebar to show the gear that has been selected. A bad idea that quickly disappeared. This lever will still work on your bike provided the number of gears matches what is on the bike.

Thanks, great news I got a pair left and right and the rear is the same 8 my bike has 3 cranks hopefully it will be 3
