That is a very nice looking bike. Love the contrast the wheels make with the celeste!

Sweet ride. I would ride the frame as is. Just tune up and/or replace needed parts to make it safe. Vintage cool

Here's my sample, without it actually being on a bicycle, a lapel pin-on button. However, I did get it at the Bianchi booth at Interbike many years ago. Skewer nut (from a Lambert!) to show scale.

OK, I'll shuffle in with my Chinese Bianchi, resplendent in its Sora glory early this morning. $425 NOS, I think I stole it; very happy with its performance..one of the best purchases I've made to date.

Is this vintage?
1992 (?) Boron XL. Bike has been taken down to the frame and will eventually be lovingly refurbished. First, however, there a couple of minor paint issues that will have to be repaired and repainted. Painting will have to wait until things warm up around here.
In the meantime, I am in the process of cleaning and polishing the bits and pieces: Chorus brakes and drivetrain, ITM bars and stem and Mavic Pro wheelset with Campy hubs. I am thinking that this bike might come in close to the 20lb mark.
Do any of you have a feel for the value of this bike? A review of the auction site doesn't provide much help.

The color scheme and decals are more like 2000. Not to mention the cable stops on the headtube. Looks pretty nice though.

ARGH! Zommbie Thread From 2012
Note Celeste color.
Movie filmed in 2 days for cost of film, props and beer. I missed my opportunity to be an extra because I was too hung over to get up at zero dark thirty and drive 35+ miles out to the old abandoned farm in Evans City, PA where it was filmed in 1968.
My first Bianchi, a 55cm 1987 Giro I bought in 2007 - fits perfect, handles great, rides like a truck and the Bianchi Formula Two tubing weighs a ton (maybe Columbus SP?).
My 2nd Bianchi, a 55cm 1990 Mondiale that I bought as a bare frame in 2010 and assembled with a mishmash of Campy components. Fits and rides great just like my 1987 Giro. The Columbus SLX is smoother riding than Columbus Formula Two but the ride is still very stiff. Great for climbing with a triple.
My 1981 55cm Bianchi Campione Del Mondo, one of my top 10 favorite riding and handling bikes.

Especially on this bike the blue tape makes the grey/blue decals more noticeable, at least I think so, and hemp sidewalls keep the wheels from looking too dark. Summer of '09 in N.J.
Terrible pic but the classic look of silver rims and hemp sidewalls really make for a great looking bike, other changes since that '09 pic are blue seat pillar, Celeste pedals, Minoura handle bar mount cage and garmin.
Of course if you really want to stand out from this crowd you need something as rare as Zuzu's flower pedals like Saphirino Chorus brakes.

Damn all you zombies, and non-zombies - I sold my celeste Grizzly back around Thanksgiving and was finally just about over my seller's remorse...now you got me back to missing it
But maybe I should look at this thread's resurrection as a blessing rather than a curse...
Until age and assorted physical ailments forced me to give it up - I regularly rode my Grizzly mountain bike as it should be - on trails at our local MTB parks. Consequently, I dinged the frame a lot. Occasionally I tried to touch-up the scars, but perhaps due to the frame being made in Japan, or maybe from sun-fading - I went through quite a few different "close but not quite" paints and nail polishes in my attempts at a perfect match.
I still have several left, and having a frugal nature, hate to just throw them out even though I don't need them anymore. Would any of Bianchiboys or Bianchigirlls here like to have them? Just cover the shipping cost and they are yours. Let me know...

So...the guy at the powder coat shop told me that I was in luck. He had another customer ask for Bianchi Celeste and that, while it was a special order, he still had enough left to do my 1989 Axis frame and fork. Now, I know that the actual "Celeste" color changed a bit in shade and tone from year to year, but...well, you be the judge.
