I bought a 2022 FX4 about a month ago. It's a great bike. This is my first 1x bike and I like it for the rail-trail type riding that I mostly do these days. I'm glad I got the 2022 version even though I had ordered a 2021 model.

I don't show 2022 Trek Fx4's as an option on the trek website. There is an Fx Sport 4 but its fully carbon and $700 more expensive than the FX3. I wonder why Trek didn't release an aluminum Fx4 like they did in 2021?

was browsing eBay and came across this beauty -- https://www.ebay.com/itm/26568209311...EAAOSwfaZfVoBV

I honestly think these bikes are better spec'd than the current high end models offered by trek (I am aware the one in the listing has been upgraded a lot). this is why I am keeping my 2011 7.3 and 2015 7.4 around for a long, long time.

2007 from internet archive research. Steel Duotone is the color combo.

Gravel Bike Recommendation

I just purchased a new Jamis Renegade bike for road riding, gravel and trails. Why did I pick this one? I looked at many bicycles out there and found several I really liked but none were in stock for my size. After a prolonged search I found the Jamis Renegade locally in my size. It is a nice bike and one you should consider in your search for a new gravel bike. Jamis labels it an adventure bike as opposed to just gravel. Anyway, this bike fits me perfectly and I am looking forward to many adventures on it.

that looks like a really great bike. Comparing it to my Opus Horizon, it looks like the reach on the Jamis is a bit longer, taller stack, slightly longer wheelbase... Definitely geared slightly towards comfort and long distance comfort. I noticed the seat tube is steeper. Great bike.

Yes, this bike is designed for long rides. It is a bike that wants to be ridden! LOL I think for the kind of riding I do I made a good choice.

Completed yesterday. B-day present for my GF. Most importantly..it fits her. Gravel-ish bike with the right top tube length and will run 38-42mm road or gravel tires.

2007 Trek 7.5FX WSD. Previous owner never rode it..probably doesn't have 50 miles on it.

Ultegra 6503 3x9 shifters, Tektro 510 canti's, Koolstop pads, Tiagra front** and rear derailleurs, OEM 3x crank, upgraded to 11x30 cassette. Shimano 324 SPD pedals. OEM saddle..we'll see how it rides. It'll probably get swapped out for a Brooks that fits her well. Gravelking Slicks 700x38mm. Fast bike!

** (due to 45mm chainline of the Tiagra derailleur and 50mm chainline of the OEM crank, I couldn't get the 11 & 12 on the cassette combo with large chainring to play well with the Tiagra front derailleur. I ended up reverting back to the stock derailleur in combination with a Jtek Shiftmate 7..works great now!)

Good choice. Jamis makes a good bike, at a reasonable price.

Any recommendations for a rear rack for my Trek FX 7.4, it is 100% paved trail ridden, just wanted to be able to strap a lunchpack or small soft cooler down.

That's the same one I have except I got the disc version which has a little more clearance for disc brakes. The rack also offers the derailleur some protection in a crash or when I lay the bike on its side in the back of my car. Good luck with yours.

Edit: I also had to buy the seat post clamp that doubles as rack mount point.

I was going to suggest the Axiom Streamliner. It's a nifty rack and mounts a little further back, which pushes the weight back, allowing bigger bags to be mounted. The 29er Streamliner is what my kid has on her FXS6.

My 2010 7.2FX that I bought to use as a commuter. I had a short ride to work every day (2.8 miles), and had a pannier on the back to carry my Macbook and some papers. Planet bike fenders, Topeak rack (from when I would ride the kids around in the child seat), gel seat, and Diamondback pedals. Original tires and grips.

I started working from home 9 years ago and have not ridden this bike much since then, especially in the last 8 years. At the beginning of this month, I took it to the local Trek store and had it tuned up, and made a commitment to get back out on the bike as I stay mostly on the local bike paths around NW Indiana. I am enjoying it so much and am looking to upgrade to a newer 7.3 or higher before spring gets here.

Happy riding my friends, stay safe!

Knobbiest!

Has any one put knobby tires in a high-end FX ( a FXs4 aluminum frame carbon fork) and used it as kind of a hard tail MTB and not ruined it? I find that I’m riding a lot of unpaved rail trails and crushed stone pathways and maybe a little dirt road stuff. I’m worried that it’s just not designed for that as it looks and feels like a “flat bar road bike”. The only bike that I had that was lighter and faster on the road was a carbon Roubaix.
