Hey, does anyone out there have an IM in 58cm? I've got a line on one, listed as 56cm, but the headtube looks longer and the pump peg higher than all the other 56s I see. If somebody could post a picture of a 58, it would help me decide whether to drive 70 miles each way to buy it. Or even direct me to a post on this thread with one!

THANKS!!!

Seller seems very patient on that one! I've got a nice yellow 56 in Tulsa that I'd probably let go for the right price/buyer. I've already done all the work, though, so would probably want almost as much as that one. That early indexing works insanely well.

I'm not surprised about the ride that's a keeper.
I actually had one, of course it was a bit smaller. It was light and right, my son owns it now.
Until you actually see this color scheme in person and in the sunlight it's hard to appreciate the iridescent purple.

I've changed the brake levers on my 86 Ironman to 105/SLR, they seem to fit me a little better. Here is a current pic,

The fixed cup and headset came off this morning. I'm leaving the pressed in cups. I don't see the Centurion sticky; did Robbie take it with him when he left, or maybe a vengece thing by the forum? Anyway, I'm looking forward to a new bike, without actually having to buy one.

There's a reason why when the 105 slr brakeset came out that Dura Ace riders replaced them with it.
To this day, they're hard to beat.

When I got my 1985 Ironman last month, it had long since had its non-aero 6207 brake levers replaces with generic Shimano aero levers. I looked around, and I found that while you can find the correct 6207 levers by the dozen, hoods are another question entirely. Oh, there were some gum hoods, but the originals were black, and there were none of those. So I decided to go with slightly newer 6209 aero levers, to make it closer to original.

This pic is from after the "shakedown cruise". Still needs just a bit of work on fit, but the ride is great and it just feels like it wants to go fast.

The 'Bernard Hinault' model turbo saddle is original. It's looking kinda old and worn, but still pretty comfy. Still felt pretty good after 22 miles, but not sure how it will do for longer rides.

Hot! I like the way this color combo takes on a slight blue/silver hue away from the sun.

@Frank S - I will assume you picked yours from CL. I was looking at buying one of the two that were both listed around the same time. Congrats to you.

Swap the calipers also for 105 SLR and you will be golden.

I've got a pair of the BR-L490 calipers, but they are not in great shape. I'll probably stay with the Ironman 600 calipers for now, they are much nicer looking.
I'm guessing the SLR levers are better matched with the SLR calipers, so I might try them if I can get them looking better.

I replaced the original 36 year old brake pads with Kool Stop pads, and between those and the 6209 levers, I think the original brakes are pretty good. Much better than the Arabesque calipers on my 82 Lotus.
