Don't you just love when noobs/pedestrians say to ride on the other side of the road.

Yeah, and riding head-on into oncoming traffic does not improve that situation.

I'm on a 2 foot wide shoulder with a woman on a bike coming right at me. I'm watching traffic come up behind me in my mirror with nowhere to go. But hey, I have the right of way, so I slow down and hold my line. The woman swerves into oncoming traffic, horns blare, and as she goes by I politely tell her she's going the wrong way. She yells over her shoulder, "No I'm not! The store is this way!"

While my wife and I were riding our racing bike tandem a woman in a SUV yelled at us to, “Get on the sidewalk!” We were riding legally AND on the right side of the road. I yelled back at her, “It’s illegal!”

Let’s discuss bikes
When in doubt, it’s best to check local laws. Here in Ontario we stay to the ride, for driving, riding and generally walking.

on bike paths, I stay on right, pass on left and usually say “ passing on your left,”

The OP doesn't know what they're talking about, is encouraging riding in an unsafe way, encourages breaking laws, and more. The fact stands that riding against traffic is not safer at any time.

The small city where I live still has a long way to go to respect cyclists. Has been a car city since the 70's and the older locals in particular have no idea. I'm constantly harrassed here,
- ride on the pavement = illegal
- go on the cycle lane = either no cycle lane or cars parked on it.
Other favourite hobbies of drivers, not looking out for cyclists when entering cycle lanes and using cycle lanes as car parks.

And to help promote cycling, recently the police have been stopping cyclists and giving them fines for not having a bell. This includes roadies out on club rides.

Riding against traffic is always a bad idea. Drivers making right turns typically don't look right (because nothing should be coming that way) before turning. You'll learn the hard way if you dont believe this.

I've had people yell at me to get on the sidewalk in places where there were no sidewalks. Legality would be somewhat irrelevant there.
My latest great piece of "advice" screamed at me following a honk was to get out of the sharrow-marked lane and ride in the demarcated no-go door zone because that was "the bike lane". My response included a four letter word and "picture of a bike".

I wonder how the court case would go if you were ticketed for riding on the "pavement" while going around a parked car blocking the bike lane .....
