Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks like there will be no Friday spin since it's drizzling all day. Hoping to do a nice ride tomorrow. I'm a rain wuss when it comes to the road so if it's still happening tomorrow I might ride off road.

Same thing with "Pinball Wizard," I heard the Elton John version long before The Who's original.

Of course now I am older and wiser and prefer the originals, mostly.

I remember - both at Allegheny and Cornell, there'd be a couple days in the 50s in February, and everyone would be out on the lawns in T-shirts, as if it was 20 degrees warmer.

I'm undecided whether "Little Wing" by Hendrix is better, or SRV's.

Im assuming this is the shifter cable coming out the backside? I’m no expert but I can’t tell if it’s actually rigged into the shifting mechanism.

If it's coming out of that lump on the inboard side, yeah, that's the shifter cable. Lucky you! You don't have to thread it though the shifter.

Mustard Plug does an awesome cover of Freshman. Though that’s one song that didn’t really need a cover.

We still do that in Boston.

It’s great when I go to Florida for the holidays to visit friends and family. Mid 50s to mid 60s and we’re in shorts and a t-shirt while everyone else is wearing a parka.

They're both great. SRV's is longer but doesn't have vocals. There's also Clapton's version.

I thought of this cover by Robert Palmer and part of Duran Duran.

Yeah, my sister who lives in FL and my brother who lives in Hawaii often wear sweaters when the temps drop into the (checks notes) 70s.

Same. Probably SRV's, but it's a close race.

A few covers I prefer over the originals...

"Danny's Song" - Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
"I Will Survive" - Cake
"Turn The Page" - Metallica

Speaking, as we were, of covers of Bruce Springsteen, it reminds me of Joe Piscopo was doing Frank Sinatra singing "Born To Run".
