Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I guess. My treadmill was 550.00 and does what it’s suppose to do. Provide tread for me to walk on.

C'mon now, be reasonable. These executives have bratty children to feed and put in summer camps and private schools in the fall, and gardeners and domestiques to pay to maintain their sprawling homes and privileged lives. Don't be so selfish.

Wasn't there some sort of infighting between the owners of Peloton in recent years? Seemed like everyone involved was a dirtbag.

When I bought a house last year the sellers had a nice treadmill and a Peloton bike in the basement that they didn't want to move. I bargained for the treadmill (I thought maybe I would take short walks during lunch) but I let them keep the Peloton because I have a smart trainer. After the fact, I wondered if I should've kept the Peloton for convenience. But the monthly subscription for workouts that aren't really targeted at cyclists turned me off. I feel like I made the right call.

(And for anyone wondering, I've barely used the treadmill, either.)

My treadmill is out in front of my house, and it goes around the block. My dog gets to go with me. It cost way more than 3 grand, but it's lasted awhile.

Which do you think costs more, bicycles or treadmills?

I could be wrong, but based on the famous Peloton commercial, it looks like the memberships are so you can basically watch a spin (or treadmill) class?

I don't get why, after the novelty wears off, you need to be in a class to spin or run. Just watch TV or whatever.

You're asking me to ignore my last 15 years to answer a question.

I have a vague memory of being on a treadmill that was actually just an array of rollers like the hotdog rollers at 7-11, but they were higher at the front and back to help keep you from running off of the contraption. And i think the rollers were wood.

This one is a 2 ton variable speed Lennox. Could have gone with a single speed lower seer unit that was less, but.
