thanks for posting the Widefoot, looks like a good option for some rides.
I've stopped to see it, real missing when you don't stop

Also 29 grams: https://www.amazon.com/CAT-EYE-Bike-.../dp/B07BRGZ3S7

Definitely not as aero though. Also, the Bontrager cages sometimes come in red, which will make you faster.

See, I like black marks on my bottles, and big scratches too. All beat up, as long as they hold water. Reminds me that I ride.

I understand. I recommend the CamelBak hydration pack.

a scratched up bottle is also easier to grip with sweaty hands.

I use two they were $5 dollars each. Zefal I think is the brand. Have had them for at least 3 years and use them with 32oz insulated hydroflask. (The cage on the down tube is a Blackburn carry all). As I'm sure you can tell from my picture I dont care about weight.

That's why I use only King cages. I used to race when very few of us had support handing up water bottles. A lost bottle could sabotage a race. Hence I used only the reliable TA caged (this was the '70s. King hadn't started yet). After TAs were no longer available in the US market, I went through a string of cages that broke or shed bottles until I learned of King. The Kings. being quality metal and welds, can be bent to customize the retention.

(And a story on TA and their cages - long after they stopped marketing to the US, mostly because everyone wanted lighter and sexier, TA kept making their steel cages because the lesser known professional riders in Europe insisted. The riders who work their butts off for their team leader, then fall back to just finish inside the time limit. If they lose a bottle on a bumpy mountain descent, they may be cooked and still suffering the next day when they arew supposed to suit up and do it allover again. 40 extra grams of bottle cage to then is peanuts. Losing a bottle long after the team car has gone miles up the road could cost them next year's contract.)

Ben

so are there other advantages to Ti cages over SS other than weight? Do Ti bottles hold tension better than SS?

So I took the time to steal my Cateye Carbon cages from my road bike for my Gravel bike. 17.2 gram! only weighed 1, should have weighed both.

installed them, added my half frame bag, and.... Well that was dumb! I need side load cages!

It's bike forums.

I've never used the ti cages but from what I've heard, it's a toss between the materials as far as holding the bottles.

On my seat tube I think what you see is the hoops for my hammock in a nylon sleave. I use a clark and they require hoops to hold the netting farther away from you. On my down tube I have wire running to my rear light from my shimano dynamo hub. I ran it through braided loom so I wouldnt have to worry about the wires getting snagged on branches and what not.

I think it's safe to ride solo, I hope. Got 30 miles and 1,400 ft climb in today, and I'm a geezer. Be safe.

I find bottle cages to be counterproductive for road bikes. No one wants to put their clean bottle outside as it picks up car exhausts and dirts and all sorts of unpleasant stuff and then consume them with their mouths. A bike bag makes more sense.
