Garmin Edge sensors and profiles question
I've been using a Garmin Edge 530 for several years without issue. I mostly used it with one bike. I now want to use it with two bikes. One I'll call the road bike and the other MTB. I have a speed sensor on each bike. From what I can tell I cannot assign a sensor to a profile. It appears that either profile (road or MTB) will acquire whatever speed sensor it detects. I've tested this by waiting until all sensors are off (asleep) and regardless of the profile, if I spin the road wheel to wake the road speed sensor that is the sensor used regardless of the profile that is active. If I wait for the sensor to sleep, and spin the wheel on the other bike it wakes and becomes the speed sensor used.
Is this in fact the correct behavior?
Is there an alternative setting? Some way to force a sensor to a specific profile?
In general, I don't see a problem if it works as I seem to think it does. Though I could see if I perhaps I move some bikes around getting ready to ride, it might wake the sensor of a bike I'm not using and cause this to connect to the Garmin rather than the bike I intend to ride.
Anyone have some insights on this?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you have this correct. The sensors are agnostic to which bike is used, or which profile you use. The device will just see whatever sensor is active and use that.

What you're seeing is the behavior we all get. 🙂
If it connects to the wrong speed sensor it will fix itself as you move out of range of the first.

If for some reason it doesn't drop the out of range sensor (anticipating it will be back in range) , you can restart the smart device (edge) when you are out of range of the one sensor & only are in range with the desired sensor.

If by chance both bikes are being ridden close by say with a friend one ca just disable the sensor you don’t want to use. Easy to disable and enable. In sensors select the one and toggle on or off.

And know that the speed sensors do not transmit unless the wheel is turning.
