Well, I'll show my sad before and after. I had just* finished setting up half of my garage when I got a second car from a family member. Had to move in the back half of a narrow laundry room. It's not pleasant to work in, now.

I feel for you bossman. I'm getting ready to move into a much smaller space with my soon-to-be. We have a lot of stuff and I have a feeling that I'm going to be doing a lot of work on the patio.

My house is 1,020 sqft. This "basement" is just shy of 6' tall where there isn't plumbing or heating ducts. I found a spot in the front of the house where the sewer pipes exit to be the best place to stand...the floor is about 2-3" lower. Not to mention, the old coal bin makes a handy work surface. The bare light bulb will be replaced with a florescent light soon, and I'm going to build a shelf system. My "2nd bedroom" has 4 more bikes in it...two of which are C&V; They usually live in the catacombs of my house as well.

I'm lucky, I think: 19' x 19' two car garage with both cars sitting outside (of course). However, it's predecessor was 26' x 26', with two rooms upstairs that housed my business at the time.
The picture shows the back wall, most of the bikes stored hanging (I hate having bikes sitting on the floor, they get in the way), my work bench (fairly soon I'll have to unlimber two bikes to use it), wheel and rim rack, and most of the five motorcycles that share the garage. Not shown is the other two walls - solid shelving, all parts neatly cleaned and sorted into individual trays (yes, I'm the kind of guy who sorts nuts and bolts and puts them in properly labeled drawers), and the motorcycle work stand which doubles as a low workbench for some bicycle work.
I'm using the bottom of the line Spin Doctor bike stand. Not too bad, but I definitely need better. It rubs triple chainwheels when the bike is properly bolted down.

These are older shots of my primary basement work space in that the bicycles aren't all the same, but the clutter generally is. I also have a small closet filled with bikes and wheels, and another area where my bench vise is for doing wheel work of sorts.

I have a room with bike parts scattered all over the place, a few small cabinets with components and
a few bins. There are various frames either hanging or on the floor, wheels hung on anything that will
hold them. 2 Sonus Faber speakers, a turntable, amplifier, bottlehead preamp (not currently working).
All actual work is done in the garage, or on the back patio in summer.
If I win the lottery tonight that will all change.

well to be honest there's also a CD player in there. As I said most of my wrenching
is done in the garage (pull car out first!).
I do build wheels, clean small parts and polish while listening to LPs

I envy you guys with basements. My shop is the code-minimum two-car garage I added to the house 15 years ago, when I converted the original garage into my wife's art and ballet studio. Unfortunately, I share the garage with son #1's 1969 Camaro and son #2's 2000 Audi S4, but it does become a pretty nice workspace when we push the cars out. I am not living like a total savage -- I do have pegboard and/or shelving on every wall, three ground fault interrupt electrical outlets, a workbench, and halfway decent lighting. The bikes and the spare rims and wheels all hang from the rafters on bicycle storage hooks.

Where I do most of my work these days...
Our co-op has nearly every tool known to man, a well stocked parts room, 7 work stands, 3 truing stands and I have storage space upstairs where I keep my project bikes and parts.
My shop at home is also well set up but I am really limited for space and don't have any current pictures.

redneckwes, There are two Monarch 10EE lathes, a 1951 manufacturing model and a 1983 Inch/Metric Tool Makers. The turret lathe is a Hardinge Hand Chucker or model HC.
Though, anything can be made there, I have, but not often made parts for bicycles. I have made bicycle tools for area shops in the past.
