Value on Refurbished 2000 Santana Sovereign?

This tandem was donated to our all volunteer bicycle charity, R Community Bikes. We sell items like this to help pay the expenses we incur in giving away over 2000 (Yes, 2000) free bikes to the community in Rochester NY every year. We do several thousand free repairs per year for the community as well. google "R Community Bikes." We refurbished the bike over the winter, now it's time to sell. We had one similar to that except a blue swirl color that was awesome looking.
I am no expert on this but I am thinking $750 to $1000.

That would be guess as well. From the dimensions it’s sounds pretty small which may limit your market

That's a very nice bike and you've done a great job of presenting it but I'm going to be the wet blanket here and point out that tandems are a difficult sell.
How many bikes are on the road? What percentage of them are tandems? That's your market.
The fact that both members of the team that rides this tandem have to hover around 5' to 5'7" tall further limits your pool of potential customers.
It doesn't hurt to start by listing on your local craigslist or Facebook for $750 to $1,000, but you may find that you have a hard time finding buyers at half that price.
Brent (who has managed to sell one tandem and ended up giving another one away)

Thanks Brent. I'm very much aware of the time it takes to sell a tandem. My wife and I sold our Santana last year; forced to sell by my age-related medical issues. We're both around 5 - 7. It was second hand and a bit too large for me but I couldn't pass it up. Rode it many years. Even at $750 - 1000 this would be a great bike for anyone just wanting to try serious tandem riding.

PS we have a Cannondale Los Dos at the shop and an older Burley too. Last year was unusual for us to get three tandems that weren't 1960s Schwinns.

A couple of years ago, I sold a Sovereign of similar vintage, size medium/medium, plus its full sized hard case, for about $1200, so something under $1000 seems ballpark.

You'll likely get the best exposure by listing it with Mike at tandemclassifieds.com - even so, it may take a few months.

Thanks. I’m starting at $900 and just haven’t got it onto tandemclassifieds.
Thanks to all for your comments.
