Better than Christmas lately:
An integrated carbon stem/aero/base bar, the Profile Design Carbon X. Not the lightest, but very adjustable.
An 8-sp DA RD that I now no longer need.
An 8-sp tricolor RD that I do need.
2 pair of brake pads for carbon rims.
A 9-sp DA RD that renders the 8-sp "expendable."
A DA 7900 crankset.

FWIW This is the Serotta/Winter I picked up recently.
Much nicer in person.
Will build into a very nice "all road" credit card tourer.
Collecting parts atm.

Well I can't top Gomango's Serotta (what sort of tire clearance does that baby have? is it a cross bike?)..
but I am very happy about my NOS Deore DX headset...
Big shout out to "wheels of steel" for doing what makes this community so great. He went out of his way to acquire and send this to me for now personal gain. Thanks!

The Serotta was refinished by Eric Estlund of Winter bike fame.
Not really a cross specific frameset. I think of it as an "all road" credit card tourer.
I am having a rack built for the front. I tried some wheels on today with 700 X 32 Small Block 8s and they fit fine.
But I do want the fenders as well, so we'll have to see how this shakes out.

Great head set! I have one on my Bob Brown and it may out live the owner.

As an interesting note I don't see much difference between this headset and an XT, both use the oversized balls and have similar stack. Maybe XT shaves weight with alloy lock nut? I'll compare when I get home.

Nice! My all weather roadie is still rocking record side pulls from the 1970s... and maxes out around a 25 or maybe a small 28 with fenders unfortunately, but I love the ride of classic 531 tubes on the road, so much life. I may press the Gazelle into more regular service someday.

A "Grail" Bike for Me...Team Miyata...Thanks REVCP!
Today (actually yesterday, but who's counting)...the Team Miyata that @revcp had for sale came in! I am anxious to get started building it up...but...am going to think it through before I start. I have a Shimano 600 Arabesque group ready to go...but...I think this came with full Dura Ace. I have a Bertoni from the same time period with the full DA...debating whether to take it down and build up the Miyata with the DA...or just go 600.
Any one have an opinion? (On here, opinions? Are you kidding?)
Enjoy the pics...

Can't wait to see your build! For those who don't know, I bought this bike from a fellow in Texas. It was built up with DA 7400. I bought it as a 56cm, but it turned out to be a 58. So I bought a NOS 1990Team frame and built it up with the 7400 group.
The other part of the story is that Daf, who lives in the Atlanta area, facilitated for me the purchase of a $50 Schwinn Cimarron that I'm building up as my commuter (sorry, @the-golden-boy , I'm using the dirt drop stem for the drop conversion). So the Cimarron and the Team Miyata crossed in the mail. So I now have two bikes I've lusted after and Daf has his. All good!

Man, that Team Miyata is sweet! It deserves the full DA treatment. Dura-Ace 7400 would be perfect on a Team Miyata.

Does getting a sort of surprise old part at the LBS count?
I got a M730 Deore XT Shark Fin chainstay protector in the box!
Just waiting for the right machine to put it on.

Yes- as pretty as Arabesque is, that thing should be decked out in something that's both pretty AND works nice.
