4 bikes, one rack, lesson not learned.

So, I bought three bikes only had one rail for my rack, disassembled two bikes and I thought I was good. Well I made the mistake of jumping back on CL yesterday and spotted a 1985 Orange stumpjumper. He wasn’t home, but said to call him in the am. I figured he would get a better offer than the low price he had it listed at and he would sell it. Well, 9am rolled around and I called at the time we agreed. He had gotten a better offer, but gave me first dibs. When I asked for his address, he was literally two blocks from my mother’s house. Well I matched the offer and threw in a jar of homemade jam, and now I have a forth bike to figure out. Hopefully the guy selling two rails for cheap calls me back.

In my mind, under BB routing came first, then the lugged unicrown and the under chain stay U brake well after.

But it's a cool setup with Specialized flag and XT M700 stuff.

Check your craigslist free section. I always see free bike racks there. ✌️

Now there's a cautionary tale of not having enough bike rack to satisfy the almighty N = N+1 gods. Lucky you had a "drop zone" ready

I'd say pretty much a given necessity for any BF C&V'er's vehicle purchase (that isn't a van or truck) is to:

1. Find the cheapest, compatible 2" hitch off OfferUp.
and
2. Find a used 2" platform rack on OfferUp or at a yard sale. Bonus points for any model that has a center support that allows installation of two additional platforms for transportation of four bikes at once.

These two things combined will always guarantee that you'll be ready to swing into action (pun not intended) at a moment's notice.

^^^^^^ .... or.....
3. Drive a truck

I'm digging on the Mountain Bike Specialists decal. Think I've only seen that before in ads.

Well, I took the stems off the bikes, pulled the cranks, RD’s and wheels. I was able to stack 3 bikes with the backseat down in the wagon and still load up the luggage.

small set of tools is going in the car today.
