New old bike day!

I saw this one at a local thrift shop yesterday. After researching it, had to go back and get it. Seemed pretty complete. Stripped the excess junk away. Mini CatEye computer or Nice Lite!, anyone? Pumped up the aged rock hard tires and gave it the Simple Green cleanse. Cleaned up well. Alloy bits will shine up, no corrosion. Took it out for a ride to evaluate where I'm at with it. Friction shifting! So elegantly simple. Smooth, no jumping. Brakes are good. Stem too short and low, but I'm planning a conversion to Albatross bars anyway. Looks good for a 40 yr old piece. A little polishing and judicious touch up and it'll be better yet.......

Odd question but what/who made that aero clamp on shifter mount? I`ve been after one just like it but can`t track one down, thanks, Dan.

These have quite a following, usually see an $800-900 ask. My 84 Expedition has braze on mounts for its SunTour Superbe levers, so think yours is 1983 or older. My early 80's Centurion Pro Tour 15 had that SunTour single post mount. It had a built in trim that moved the front DR lever as you shifted through the rear cogs. Don't know if the clamp on version had the feature.Don

And called Symmetric. Those are a cool little puzzle, that you have to ponder a bit. They're so simple, that they can confuse you. 🤔😁
