Good! I missed it. Nice! And much nicer than the cheap bent flatbar unit I've been using. But I made a plunger for mine that has a slotted "foot" that slides under the axle nut or quick release. Such a hassle saver I'd do the same form this Park but it is almost certain the unit I made would not work here so this sweet dishing tool in my shop would be Project #273.

I was the lucky wheeler dealer (see what i did there) that got to this first... any chance you could post a picture of the modification plunger you made so i can patent it and make millions?

I'm digitally photo ignorant and staying that way. (Did the film stuff many years ago. Loved it but it became an obsession. Also I could not stop viewing the world as if through a viewfinder. So you get the written approach.

You need two 1x3/16 angles, 1 1'2" each. Aluminum makes this easy. (Home Depot.) Drill small holes along one edge of each so you can bolt them together to form a shallow U: 1" deep and 1 1/2" wide. Vertical legs will be slightly staggered heightwise. Doesn't matter. Drill a hole in the middle of one of the U's sides to fit over the tool's threaded rod. Drill the same hole in the other side (in line with the first) and big enough to fit your biggest hub axle. Now cut and file to the edge of the FB of the axle hole so that it becomes a slot. You should be able to easily slide this flange under the hub axle nut (fix gear) or QR nut and over the hub's locknut. (If you have a drill press, clamp the U on its side. First drill the axle hole with the larger drill bit on the upper flange. Swap bits to the threaded rod size and drill the other flange through the first hole. Nicely keeps both holes in line.)

Assembly - thread a nut onto the existing threaded rod leaving about 1/2" of rod sticking past the nut. Insert the rod into the hole in the U. Thread on a second nut and tighten against the first so the U is locked rigidly in place. Done.

Remember to send me royalties. We have documentation here where you got the idea from.
