1986 Bianchi Specialissima 56x56 Dura Ace

Up for sale is my super sweet 1986 Bianchi. I was told it was a Specialissima when I bought it, but I didn't really care as I love anything Bianchi and I know it is either a Speciallissima or something right there under it. I know it is Columbus SL tube set and it rides like a dream. I decided to go with DA 7sp when I rescued this from townie form, hence the different year brake levers and shifters. The entire rest of the group should be original and would have been 6 speed. I went through all the bearings, cleaned up any dirt and grime, lightly touched up the frame (tried not to make it look tacky) with a custom matched celeste, added new bar tape and cables/housing. The only reason I am considering parting ways with this is because it is a smidge small (I still ride it) and also I am raising funds to buy a nice gravel bike. I will also include a set of clincher wheels (look the same, just clincher vs the tubulars in the photo). Please note that of course RIGHT AFTER I took this photo set, I ran over a screw and so I replaced the rear tire with a gunwall Vittoria. I would prefer to keep the spare tubular as well as my Speedplays. I'm sure you will want some nice clip and strap pedals anyway!

I would prefer not to ship this as I just don't have time right now. If you find someone to facilitate for you, that would work. I'm in West Denver/foothills area.

The only trades I might consider (plus cash on my end of course) would be a Grail, Grizl, Diverge, Crux, or similar gravel bike.

$1100

Beautiful bike. In the US market there was no Specialissma model in ‘86, frankly other that the ‘87 Specialissma X4 I’m not sure there ever was a single Specialissma model but it was just the grouping of top end bikes like the later Reparto Corse.

OK anyway if this originally cam with 6spd Dura Ace it may well be the ‘86 Giro.

But do you a 6spd Dura Ace equipped Italian bike? You gotta check all the boxes before you hit N+1

I am retiring this year...some other boxes to check!

I think I have the Italian angle covered in my search to get bikes from different countries. Daccordi, Faggin, Basso, Losa, Rossin. I have the lesser-known brand market covered I think...

Was the Specialissima the top or second from top for bikes...? I was though it was the top but I read it was second during this era?

Was the Mondiale the top banana?

Check out her post up there^
There wasn’t an actual Specialissima that year (I was mistaken) but the top bikes from the reparto corse dept were the Mondiale and Giro. Same frame, Shimano vs Campy. There may have been an X4 above those, but I suspect differences were chrome accents. And it seems that may have been introduced in 1987. Dang, maybe I should keep this. Ha.

You should! It’s beautiful. Like I said above, if this was one year ago, I would probably have not been able to resist.

I still have this. Not really decided yet if I want to sell it, but it’s still listed so let me know if you want it!
