The Mailorder King of Pedals?

Is there a mail order bike shop (preferably US-based so I can avoid expensive shipping charges) that could truly claim to be the King of Pedals? I'm looking for a lightweight resin pedal (~250g per pair) with a 9/16" thread, good bearings, CroMo spindle, and installable with a hex-wrench (allen wrench). I have such a pair made 30 or 40 years ago in Germany that are as good as new. Nobody seems to make them anymore.

If you can come to grips with an extra 110 grams, Race Face Chesters are what you’re describing.

Did you search eBay?

I don’t know the brand or model, but there are NOS Union 9/16” pedals.

That would be nice. I see pedals as disposable. Have had them last less than one ride (the crap resin pedals WABI sells) to about 5 years (Performance Bike Platforms). Crank Brothers, Shimano, MKS and all other name brand have lasted somewhere between those times.

I would recommend checking out the VP-538. Maybe not 250 g but under 300 g, I think. Sealed bearings and a sturdy spindle. Victor makes good pedals.

buy it at REI after reading the warranty. Might be as good as it'll get within reason.

The ones I have are Union but there was nothing quite the same on eBay; I've been checking for the past few weeks.

Thanks, I'll give them a try. A pair is on order.
