Notices
Road Cycling ďIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.Ē -- Ernest Hemingway

Iíd take 50 at the start any day. Last one I did it was 70 and full sun with 365 feet of climbing/descending. It would have been fun but I had a pair of shoes that werenít for me, got a terrible stabbing pain in my foot and had to stop and take my shoe and sock off and sit for a couple of minutes every little bit. It added about 5-7 minutes to my time, which put me at 49:45 or something like that. I ended up 10th Iím 40-49 AG, winner was under 40 minutes

I wouldn't blame the whole thing on Dak. Yes, he had problems last night but I always thought he was the real deal. Maybe he was never as good as I thought he was.

Not sure what happened to Zeke. It just seemed like defenses had him figured out and he could never get going like he did earlier.

Iím sick again. I think itís just a continuation of being sick now for like a month. Cough, congestion. Thought it was just allergies but today it took a turn for worse. Cough got worse, congestion got worse.

I swear I have been sick more times this past year than my whole life.

No ride today. I am doing my husbandly duty and waiting while mrs datlas browses at “Room and Board” in Culver City. It’s a fine store but I cannot get excited over furniture.

No the whole game can't be blamed on Dak, but even the Jet's QB played better than he did yesterday. The niners made halftime adjustments, but it seems like the Boyz didn't, or if they did they sure weren't working. Dak is a lost cause, they should accelerate developing the new kid Lance.

I have such sympathy for the poor suffering Cowboys fans.

But no, clearly Kellen Moore was the problem. Anyone but McCarthy and Jones...

I managed a 39:56... once. If I ever do that again I'll be thrilled.

Ikea is better because instead of just waiting you could have meatballs!!!

I guess that wouldn't apply in datlas' case however.

I have no experience w those boutique/fancy brakes. Probably lighter than Shimano. I'd be impressed if the stopping power was as good.

I have been. My usual line to mrs datlas is ďall the guys here are gay or whipped.Ē

I consider going there my husbandly duty also, but I can usually finagle one of those cinnamon buns as a reward for my patience.

Heading back from Culver City. We did the famous stairclimb up to the top of Baldwin Overlook. Not quite cycling content, but close enough.

I tried to post my pano from the top, but apparently file too big. Settle for this.

Now you're just being obnoxious with the Philly gear. BTW, they are giving the Braves an ass beating. Can't say I mind. Philly pitcher Zach Wheeler grew up very close to where we live and he grew up a Braves fan. The more you know.

We are currently enjoying watching the Phillies on the outdoor sidewalk of a sports bar on Broadway and Ocean Ave in downtown Santa Monica.

Nice zebra motif on the winning bike though:

Carrying a seat pack with a few tools and a co2. He said there is a tire plug kit in the bar end. I guess there is no mechanical support. They are able to get food and water but they carry most of what they need. No team cars. They have to finish on the same frame they start with. Some ran a 1x and some a 2x.

What surprised me was how spread out they were late in the race. Also, Wout Van Aert crashed early and passed riders for hours to get back in the top ten.
