I went out looking for hardware today and brought home 4 bikes instead.

First up is a 1990 Trek 930, which I’m stoked about for a few reasons. I have three lugged 9xx bikes, 18”, 20” and 22”. Now I can see which one fits best with uprights and sell the other two. Since the 1990 has a more normal fork vs the Tange super big forks, I have a feeling it will win, plus it is a 20”.

Second bike I bought, or should I say frame, is a 1982 Miyata 912 that I might try turning it into a 650b bike, though I feel the bike might be a bit big, we shall see.Super clean for its age too.

Up next is a 1990 MB-3 that will be a donor bike to the trek 930, except for the rapid fire shifters. I have a set of XT thumbies that should work perfectly.

Lastly, this might be the lightest steel frame I have held. Not sure what is going to happen with this, it will probably get put up for sale as I’m probably not in the weight range that is intended for this bike, but it was pretty and I figured I could find it a good home.

Great finds! You'll be shocked at how well that Miyata 912 performs. Great frameset

I dunno, that's a NEW one on me. 😁😉

I think you should gift that Guercotti to me, as a reward for surviving COVID. It's even the right color. 🤔🙃😉

Don't just pass on the Guerciotti. Build it up and ride it for a while first. If it doesn't float your boat, strip it back down and sell it, and no harm done. But you may find that you love it. I have never owned or ridden a Guerciotti, but others love them, and I doubt it is for no reason. So give it a go.

At 205ibs, you won't break the frame. It might - might - prove whipper than you like, but that frame is more than strong enough for you. This is coming from all 260lbs of me.

Them's my opinions - and they are worth exactly what yo are paying for them.

Same as SLX but a bit heavier given the three extra letters on the decal.

i'll be interested to see how those bikes look once you have them built up the way you like. and i agree with bikingshearer give that guerc a chance . i predict you'll have a giant smile when you take it out on the first ride. the stated max rider weights for columbus SL / SLX were borne out of litigation considerations . find a nice 36 spoke wheelset with campy hubs or dura ace or suntour superbe if thats your preference and see what you think . it might make you want to keep it around for zippy rides to boring . oh and thanks for the fenders

Mega score!! That purple Guerciotti is the second one I’ve seen this year that was given away. Let me know if you want some fancy wheels for it. I might be able to help.

I think P!N20 has subtly indicated his interests in the Guerciotti....please put him at the front of the line if disposal is in the cards for the frame.
Best, Ben

When I bough these bikes, I intended to sell the Guerciotti and the Bridgestone, possibly the Miyata. Now I have 15 bikes in the garage, with 10 of them being project bikes. I need to be realistic about the style of bike that I like to ride and part ways with the rest. I’m more into bikes that can carry things versus getting somewhere fast, and tires 1.5” or larger.
while the Guerciotti is lovely, it does not fit my intended desire for a bicycle, so it the profits from that frame will go back into a project bike that suits me more.

I would hate to see P!N20 overtly indicating interest

I don't recall the specs for SLX/New SLX (paging T-Mar ), but I do notice that those aren't conventional SLX chainstays. Early 1990's Guerciottis seemed to use these larger chainstays around this time; my EL-tubed frameset also has them.

Definitely build and ride before considering getting rid of it. Might perform really nicely if the OP is a heavier rider.
