The tape that came with the rims I just bought have two strips of tape with them. The instructions don’t mention these strips, which resemble finishing tape for the handlebars. Anybody know what they’re for? Mavic rims FWIW.

Bueller? Bueller? Ah well, I want to get these wheels rolling, so I'll just put the tubeless tape on as per the instructions and ditch these strips.

Reminds me of the pieces of handlebar tape to go under the brifters.

If you do a single wrap, I think center those things over the valve-holes.

Interesting theory. There's two of those strips for one roll of tape, but the one roll is meant for two layers, so your idea could be if I wanted to do two wheels (single layer) with one roll.
