And look at the "unicrown" shown in post #6 by EB_AZ , which is not just fork tubes welded to steerer, but has a lug there. Specialized didn't quite trust the unicrown yet!

Yes, mine is also lugged, although it is difficult to see in that photo.

It also adds a bit of decoration to an otherwise bland fork.

I wish mine had the bi-plane fork but the Brooks makes up for any perceived shortcoming. :-)

Everybody knows we have Tom to blame for the unibrow, right?

So Tom Ritchey designed it in 1982, gave up on it, and then Mike Sinyard and Tim Neenan made it happen in 1983 at Specialized?

Maybe so, don't think he gave up on it, he made the good ones for himself until he didn't.

By then most were using the fugly, unicrap. If Tom had any lock on it, he may have done well on that alone.

I think the lugged unicrown is kinda cool. Again- it appealed to the conservatism of lugs, but still taking the leap forward in technology, however mistrustful.

BTW- do your computers autocorrect "unicrown?" I see "unibrow" above, and my post was corrected to "uncrown" as I watched.
