Florida-Alabama suggestions?

We are planning a trip to see family at thanksgiving. We’ll either be staying in Pensacola or just north of Gulf Shores. It’s a 10 hour drive but I’m thinking about taking our bikes and trying to do some riding.

Is it worth traveling with them for half a days riding? I’ll have to take my SUV which takes more gas. Are there trails that would be interesting or would you just bike along the coast. It looks like the weather that time of year should be in the 60s or 70s which would be perfect.

Gulf Shores State Park in AL has about 60 miles of paved trails running through the woods and marsh. Blackwater State Forest has several mountain bike trails through the pine forest. Both areas within 30 miles of Pensacola.

Also, if you want to ride the coast, the road from Pensacola Beach to Navarre goes along the National Seashore and has a paved bike trail most of the way. Beautiful Emerald Coast waters and ultra white dunes and beaches.
