Fledging season

Fledging season. At my house there are baby birds flying all around. Goldfinches I think. Two nests previously full turned into a bunch of babies on the ground and now chirping and flying all around. Here in my favorite park there is similar chaos.

this is the mom, she was fussing with a baby for a while but that one has now flown away. So she was left looking at me. Such is life I guess.

I think it is a pine siskin. Goldfinches nest later in the summer, when thistle blooms.

every ride I seem to encounter a bird that makes the poor decision to take flight across my path. They could go any other way, but they choose to flirt with some spokes.

We have had an explosion of baby bunnies, birds, deer, had a skunk visit a couple mornings (really hoping it's not pregnant!). A Carolina wren baby just about landed on me the other day. For such a small bird, they sure make lots of noise when I'm in their "territory"! The skunk hasn't been seen lately, hoping it was just passing through. Beautiful animal but hope it settles elsewhere!

You're missing the other "L" in "fledgling".

Incorrect. OP is using the transitive verb form.
