OK, fess up. What is the MOST you have paid for a C&V bike?
Like everyone else on this forum, I like to brag about the dirt cheap deals I have gotten on C&V bikes. Now, let's go to the other and more difficult side of this equation. What is the most you have ever paid for a C&V bike?
To be fair, I'll start. Regarding my C&V bikes (I don't want to talk about my titaniums), I have been pretty lucky. My most expensive purchases have been:
1985 Tommaso SLX -- $325
1985 Pinarello Record -- $300
1991 Land Shark -- $300
Next?
BTW, it looks like Seattle in Scottsdale today. Skiing is going to be great this weekend, IF you can actually get to the mountains. Four feet of snow expected in Flagstaff on top of the existing two feet. But I-17 is closed.

All the sudden I'm feeling like a total sucker (and I thought I was shrewd).
I paid about $650 for the De Rosa SLX and put money into it with parts.
I traded a Kona JTS, which I could have probably sold for around $800, for Steve Bauer's Eddy Merckx...I put a couple of hundred into some fancy touches for it.

$1100 (frame only) for my Carlsbad-built Masi in 1988, when I really couldn't afford it. But I've had her ever since, and I recently spent another $800 on her refurb, (and god-knows-how-much on Ebay for the NIB components.)

I spent $1500 for the NOS Cinelli SC, but it is not an older Cinelli - more like a "Keeper Of The Flame". Although it is lugged steel, it is probably a 2000-2001 model year frame.
The Battaglin cost me $325, but I needed a good frame in that size to build for my daughter. I paid $300 for a "glued and screwed" Guerciotti/Alan, but later sold it for $500.
Other than that, nickels and dimes.

$350 for a '76 fuji feather track bike, dura ace + suntour superbe pro, complete
$500 for '79 raleigh track, frame and fork. I probably overpaid for it, but it is mint, and very cool.
So, no screaming deals for me, those all seem to get snatched up before I can get there.

If you consider the 93 Bianchi Campione C&V, then it's the tops @ $200 plus parts and tires. If not, then close to it is the 85 Ironman @ around $190.
As for total investment, I think the 86 Nishiki Prestige is the current front runner at around $250.

I paid $475 for my '49 Clubman, and around $350 for a few other bikes in my herd, but I think that all of those purchases should hold their value if I decide to sell off. More problematic have been a few framesets that I've bought for around $100 or so and then put another $100 in on powdercoat or decals, and then I'm looking at a loss if I want to sell.

My CV bike, also my first real road bike, is my Raleigh Super Course TT with tubular wheels that cost $192 in 1973. After years of neglect and abuse I decided it was time to make her whole again. After a repaint, new decals, wheels, freewheel, upgraded bars, stem, crank-set, seat post, etc... an additional $771 was added to the original cost. It's a good thing the original Winnerman brakes and levers were still good.
