Bottom brackets make my head explode
I just got a 2019 S-Works Tarmac SL6 off ebay. I expected an "OSBB" but it has a BSA. I was planning on pulling most everything off my "classic" Venge but I guess I can't use my S-Works crank, so now I need a new crankset too... What's the deal with "DUB"?
I also need direct mount brakes. I'll probably just get some EE's, change my mind.
Nokons seem to be unobtanium now.
And finally, does anyone make -17 degree stems anymore?

Dub is a sram standard, their original 2-piece design was 22mm/24mm while shimano's was a straight 24mm, dub is a straight 28.9mm that allows for better bearing size and sealing in an english thread bb without giving up too much of the stiffness that a 30mm spindle offered.

I think I'm going to call Specialized in the morning and see if they can tell me if that frame was supposed to have an OSBB/BB30 shell or BSA threads. Maybe there's just an insert wedged in there really well. I don't want to start banging on anything if it's permanently bonded in though.
If I have to stick with the BSA though, I was looking at a BBInfinite since it looks like it can do BB30 or DUB.

Specialized itself offers a 17 degree stem:
S-Works SL Stem with Expander Plug | Specialized.com
You can install it upside down.

For "just get a new frame and swap everything over", this is getting to be a lot more than I had originally planned in my head. BUT I decided I wanted to leave the cockpit intact to make it easier to rebuild later.

I ended up going with Jagwire links instead of Nokon. Mostly because I could get it in blue (I sense a theme...).

Despite the "extralite" top cap, I'm not really going for an ultra lightweight build. That's just fashion, I have it color-matched on all my bikes. I would assume it will be the same 15lb ballpark as my Venge. I'm way past caring about a few grams here or there.

If it makes you feel better, I started caring too late. 3 of my bikes are in the 18 pound range, the old ass trek might 16 not sure. Now if I need to replace a part I try and go as light as possible. Maybe one day all of my bikes will be 15 pounds. They will probably all be different bikes than I have now, but 15 pounds.

edit: I would say it's not that hard to hit 15lbs, but I also just spent nearly $5k and I'm not even getting all new stuff
edit 2: I think I had my old Tarmac SL2 down to around 13lbs at some point.

Well, that's interesting. I've put the parts I've gotten so far together and have sort of a "rolling chassis", that's at 8lbs nearly dead even. Adding up the claimed weights of the rest of the components on order, plus the ones I'm moving over is another ~5.5lbs, for about 13.5 total. I don't think I've forgotten anything.

There are light and durable cassettes that do not cost nearly that much: Prestacycle UniBlock Cassette | 11-Speed Shimano / SRAM /Campagnolo for HG 11 Freehub - Prestacycle

Since I switched to 11sp I don't ride enough to wear stuff out
I still have the "original" XG-1190s on both 11sp bikes.

Well I couldn't resist the 40% discount on the Quarq version of the SRAM Red crank.

Finished last night and rode it today. Came in right at 14.5* after adding the Quarq and, um..., pedals.
