Creaky Retrofriction Shifter

Creaky Retrofriction Shifter
Help, please!
My rear Retrofiction shifter has started to creak when pulling the shifter towards me. I removed the shifter from the mount, removed all of the washers, and sprayed it out with WD40 and it still creaks. I tried dripping some penetrating oil onto the spring as best as I could and it still creaks. The only parts I can't remove from the shifter body are the spring and the pressed in bushing.
Here is the model I have:

I think when I rehabbed a couple Retrofrictions I used a small socket and a hammer to gently tap out the bushing, and then was able to get the spring out. Getting it completely apart, cleaned, lightly greased and back together might help. But I also wonder if it could actually be the clamp? Like maybe it's developing a crack somewhere and slightly loosening up so it's 'creaking' against the downtube... (hopefully not!)
