Biketiresdirect.com has a number of Garmin devices on sale currently, and has the additional merit of being an authorized dealer.

Biketiresdirect is a fairly reliable source for discounts on Garmin devices if you are patient. I've use them regularly (and would recommend them).

Well, that didn't last long... oh, the sale on older Garmin head units is still going on, it's my ownership of an Edge Explore and RVR-315 radar that ended abruptly after 5 days when I let my wife try them. They're hers now and I have to find something for myself. Being a bargain hunter I suspect I'll go for the refurb 1030. The 1030 Plus does have some extra features I'd like, but probably not worth the difference of $450 vs $250 for me.

If you ride together, within Ant+ distances, you can display the radar on 2 head units simultaneously. So just give the radar to whomever is in back.

Today I am supposed to get the 130+ I ordered on sale from biketiresdirect, so I can give that and my old gen1 radar to my wife. It will be interesting to see if she wants to switch to mine. I used a 130 and that gen 1 radar for years without issue. Garmin had both the 515 radar and the 130+ on sale for $150 each a few months ago. It may happen again.

Another way to use the Varia by cheaper watch is the Garmin Venu SQ on sale at both BuyDig and GPSCity for 90 bucks. I have no idea how well it works with the varia. Just noticed it on sale.
