Life gets in the way for most of us, keeping us away from our passion/fitness/relaxation regime. What keeps you off the bike more than you want and are there any changes you can make to get more seat time?
For me, its the change in the weather. We have entered the rainy-cool season in the Pacific North Wet. Will get out the fendered bike on the wet roads, but being caught in downpours and then cleaning/relubing the bike afterward is exactly not my kind of fun. (OK, I’m lazy). OTOH, I do have ZWIFT but an hour is about all I can bear/bare/baer, stand.
Even though you may have good weather all year, are there things keeping you from your ride?

Nov Dec Jan and Feb should be cancelled due to lack of interest.

I acquired the necessary technical clothing to ride in most any weather, which is also complimentary for back packing and white-water canoeing. My only excuse is being lazy...LOL!!

At the urging of my riding mentor I signed up for the Gran Fondo NY with it's 8300 feet of elevation. 6000 feet more than my biggest climbing ride, so no excuses for the next 6 months. Woot!

Bad weather and fatigue resulting from the heavy work load from the week. I also have to take care of my mom which isn't young anymore

plenty of members who also regularly discuss their newest uber-expensive bikes. I'm guessing that some people with such machines might also be into swanky autos, boats, etc -- in fact, sometimes, when people post pics of their bikes, you can see their sports cars in the background. There is a push-pull between buying the gear (which requires working) and finding the time to actually use it. I am sometimes amazed to read posts from people who've been riding a short time and have already bought more bikes than I've purchased in twenty years of fairly serious riding.

Not going to lie I am a data junkie. When I discovered Strava back in 2018 I was riding 700-800 miles a month. I would squeeze in rides before work, commute to work, and then ride some more after work. On my days off I would do 60 mile rides all in effort to increase my personal data statistics. It was a game to me and so much fun. Fast forward couple years I started acquiring more tools for wood working and kind of lost interest in riding other than commuting to work. So basically other hobbies have taken over, its too cold, not enough daylight hours, and little motivation.

And plenty of those people are here for the sport of showing off their expensive bikes to flaunt their affluence rather than for the sport that is riding bikes. You're probably going to find those same members on wristwatch forums showing off their expensive Rados that they never wear; on boating forums showing off their expensive boats that they never sail, and on underwear forums showing off their expensive underwear that they never wear.

Are you asking because you see the ownership of a pair of middling hybrid bikes as a show of affluence (which is sad,) or because you're actually part of that "pretty rare" group of showoffs and you're too concerned about it getting bigger and less exclusive (which is pathetic?)

Re: Affluence. There is envy and then there is disdain. At times the two mix. There is also acceptance that there will always be those better off regardless whether they choose to flaunt it or not. Getting to acceptance will go a whole lot farther in making one’s life a lot more pleasant. Besides the only person that is the beneficiary of the negative feelings is the person themself, not the rich guy.

Well then maybe you ought to make sure you understand what you read and that you have good reasons to ask complete strangers what their motives are when they reply to posts that weren't made by you.
