A little good news
There is a little good news among all the bad. Three of the 4 months of really cold weather this winter has passed. There are only 44 days till spring. As you can see I am counting the days.
I really want to be able to get out on the trike and go for a nice ride.

You should try an upright. Many people ride those during the winter (and spring, and summer and fall). The increased versatility makes up for the loss of the couch-on-wheels effect.
But, seriously, why can't you put winter tires on a recumbent trike? I would think the lack of worry about falling would be a case where such a design really could shine.

Current conditions on my deck. Sleet changing back into rain soon. Gusts up to 40. NW of the city is expecting 12”+.

We got about 12" here too. I took advantage of a dry Saturday to ride the bike while the roads were dry , which was fortunate because the snow started later that day and lasted for about 30 hours. I don't complain though; I like winter.

Only our second snow of the year. December and nearly all of January were well about the 30 year average. The average high for the first three weeks of January was about 7 degrees above average. The nightly lows about 4 degrees above average.
Today is a good excuse to work from home. I usually like to go into the office because I am almost always the only one there, and it gets me away from the cat.

The weather really hasn't been that bad here this winter, but I just get so tired of cold weather. Sitting and spinning on the trainer isn't nearly as fun as actually getting out and going somewhere. I go through this every winter when it's too cold to ride.

BTW a trike on ice and snow is far safer. On a DF when the front wheel loses traction you go down!!!

The predicted 10" of snow in coastal Rhode Island was a mere dusting as it was too warm for much snow to accumulate. I was disappointed.

I’m not counting the days but I’m glad that a good share of MY non riding Winter days are in the past. February is generally pretty docile weather-wise but I can’t ever remember biking in February here in West Central Wisconsin. Conditions were suitable (for me) late last March and I’m hoping for a similar situation this year 😎. We’ve experienced 8-10” snowfalls in April but fortunately it melts away in a day or so 👍. Historically, the upper Midwest experiences a real Winter with sub-zero temps and snow measured in feet not inches. We’ve seemed to dodge much of that this year with the regions south and east of us getting hammered. We’ll still get more #now this season but we’ll not “catch up” to what folks out East are experiencing.

It's been snowing and/or sleeting since Sunday. Some places maybe a 45 min. drive from the city already have over 2 feet of snow.
