1989 Schwinn Circuit find

This popped up on Facebook tonight and I just got back with it. Unfortunately the Rolls saddle wasn’t with it. But it’s in great condition and my size.

I'm not normally a Schwinn guy, but I've heard that these were nice riders and I've been scouting them out. For some reason this model is always over priced by several hundreds of dollars, I got very lucky with this one at a great price. I actually told the seller he was way under priced. He said he was aware of it but just wanted it gone with no haggling. He didn't get any from me.

Is the component group Sante and if so how much of it is Sante?
Congrats.

So how much did you pay? I've been on the lookout for one of these too. Enjoy that beauty!

Great find. I think a lot of Sante-equipped bikes were parted out, given the $$$ you see for components on eBay (when you see them). I got one of these just before the lockdown, but alas the rear mech had been replaced with some mid-level 21st-Century Shimano (now sporting a period Dura-Ace). And yes, it's a nice rider.

My friend bought one new in the late eighties and loved it. His was Columbus tubing with very nice components. He said he paid about a thousand bucks for it. He put a lot of miles on that bike until one day he had ridden to Santa Barbara which is about 45 miles north of where he lived . He was cruising up State St. and the head tube cracked in a spiral between the fork and stem. He said it felt like a flat tire. That was the end of his Circuit so I built him a Paramount P13 which he said was almost as good as his Circuit.

I had an 87 for several years. It was/is a nice rider. Bought as a frame and built up with a black Athena 11 speed Groupset and eventually some Zonda wheels. One of my faster bikes out on the road and for some reason the one I seemed to capture all my local Strave sprint KOM's on. Over the years as I sold off my 80's Schwinn's this is the one I kept. Kept it over a mint serial #1 87 Paramount, a Prologue, and a Tempo. That said I finally sold it to the mechanic that built it up just last month. Way too many bikes and I wanted to concentrate the collection on other stuff.

As I rode it, kept the saddle when I sold it though.

I bought this beauty for my son hoping he'd get into road biking... He didn't....

You're gonna love how that Circuit rides, have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Love my ‘89 Circuit. Swapped out the Sante group for DA7400 and sold off the Sante for what I paid for the bike. Sante is nice but I never thought it worked on the ‘89 with the chrome and the silver decals.

Heckuva deal nonetheless.

The prices on these and other bikes are all over the place, though with near-pristine and original examples seeming to fetch 450-plus even back when I bought mine.
I found mine (pretty clean, but with rusted bb bearings) for 220 about eight years ago (a Saturday night Craigslist listing in a distant lower-income neighborhood, an adult son selling his dad's prized old bike).

They're solid riders, with Schwinn's long-standing adherence to 73-degrees headtube and 74-degrees seattube angles providing a sporting road platform.

I remember $80 being what I paid for each of my low-end Steyr and Steyr/Sears bikes, as well as for my somewhat-weathered Schwinn Tempo.

Being a firefighter is a great job. Plenty of time to work on bikes and people feel better coming to the firehouse to buy bikes.
