​​​​24" 1999 LeMond Tourmalet - $100 (Citrus Heights)

Great bike that has taken me far and wide... but its shifting system (thumb-index shifting) is shot after 20 years of use. That form of shifting is no longer produced, and to replace it I'd basically have to pay out about as much as to get a new decent commuter bike. Everything else on the bike - brakes, wheels, pedals, etc. - is in fine shape. This would be a perfect bike/frame for someone who wanted to do some modifications.

$100 as is gets you the bike and all that is installed on the bike as seen in the picture. I'm 6'3", the frame is 24" - that should give you a good idea as to its size. Any questions? Feel free to inquire.

Granted this isn't 853 I don't think but my LeMond Buenos Aires is a similar year (horizontal drops too) and fits 650x38b. nlerner has one from a couple years previous that's running the same tire size I think. Not sure on the unicrown looking fork and clearances there. So not the nice bigger rubber (42) you get on some, but 38s are nice for decently well manicured dirt roads/trails and definitely for rougher pavement and chipseal that I like to ride. Otherwise mine ran 28s fine in 700c which is a nice size especially with steel.

Interesting that it is still Tenax. The build is much sloppier (barrel stays are the worst). I am admittedly not a Schwinn fan.

Some interesting modifications...rear and front derailleur, cantis, wheels seem original, but seatpost, levers (obviously), shifters certainly do not enhance the value.

He began building his own road bicycle frames in 1977, and built his first mountain bike frame in 1982, the “Fat Chance”. This beautiful steel road bicycle came from a collaboration with famed American racing bicycle manufacturer Serotta in the mid nineties. It's a custom build featuring a Dura Ace drivetrain. It's a 2001 LeMond Zürich, based off the past colors and the Trek Catalogs. The Wheelset could be sold for $200, I think. Heck, I just paid $80 for an Ultegra front deraillure. Paint looks great from the pictures. I'm tempted to go and look, but then I'ld buy it, and I really don't need to start in on a another 650B conversion.

Wow! I love the color and how it contrasts with the chrome! I'd add gum walls, Brooks saddle, orange tape and move the shifters to the down tube. Does anyone know how these rode compared to the 70's Paramount?

Custom Tandem -Super deal - $100 (Near Lewis and Clark College)

What’s the story with tandems? They are like elephants, very cool to look at but folks are afraid to ride them! My wife and I have had more positive adventures on our tandem but since I own three, it’s time to let this one go. Since I can’t seem to sell it at a fair price, I’m practically giving it away.

For $100, you get a custom, 80's (?) American steel frame set. The brazing on the fillets is exceptional. It comes with wheels, TA cranks, both front and rear derailleurs, front and rear stems, handlebars and brake levers. It is a 10 speed, but the gearing is good for everything but alpine touring, as in Switzerland.

The tires are brand new.

I took off the high end Brooks saddles and bar-cons (bar end shift levers).

All that is needed are two saddles, downtube shift levers, canti calipers, cables and bar wrap.

The front will fit someone 5’8”-6’2” and the stoker/rear rider should be 5’3” - 5’8

I feel like I have a pet that needs adopting. I believe if this bike fits you and your partner, it will be great fun. The frameset warrents upgrading too

This bike is in superb condition and ready to ride anywhere in the world. The drivetrain has less than 100 miles on it. The bearings in the Phil Wood hubs and bottom bracket are speced for submersible pumps. The rims on the Mavic wheels are ceramic coated so they will Never wear out. The front rack isn’t mounted but I will ship it with the bike. I usually would only mount it when I was going on a loaded tour. All hardware is stainless steel so it won’t rust. Panasonic TI frame: https://www.ebay.com/itm/185191414181 . I had one of these, stupidly sold it a few years ago. From what I have read, they are commercially pure titanium, not 3/2.5.

That should be ~54cm ctc. Smallish but not tiny small. I know because I have the 52cm version of this. It's harder to eyeball bikes with unicrown forks because the unicrown fork makes the headtube shorter.
