Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A new mint in box pair of diadora road cycling shoes was needed because with previous one I had the right shoe started to develop cracks and the left one started to age badly but I had them during 25 years.

Interesting that the rear brake routes intro the from on the right. Was it set up for left shifter to be the rear brake?

Picked up a lender wheel from a friend of mine at the LbS, came with a schwalbe tire, but it didn’t have a tube in it. She asked if she wanted me to throw a tube in it for me, but in my haste I said I got it. Had limited time to ride, still had to throw a cassette on it.

Anyways, got to my start point for my ride, went to put a tube in, and 30 mins later I still did not have it set up. I never could get that tire on. I brought a spare tire from home with me, and that went on with out a hitch.

I kind of want to bring it back and watch her do it for giggles.

Christmas haul:
2 pairs of Pactimo Summit 12 Hour bibs (~40% off sale)
2 summer undershirts from Pactimo (~40% off sale)
Garmin Edge 1040 ($100 off from Ascent Cycling)
Garmin Varia RTL515 ($25 off from Ascent Cycling)
100% S2 "Tokyo Nights" edition glasses (full price, but I really like these glasses and this color)

I still need two short sleeve jerseys but I'll wait for the spring sales. I hate paying full retail for stuff.

Is that a round seat post? Can’t quite tell from the pics. That bike is a beauty.

It's a round seatpost. Area near the saddle clamp is somewhat oval because of the clamp design.

Took advantage of a holiday sale at prowheelbuilder.com: 20% off any White Industries based wheel. I picked White Industries T11 hubs with Sapim CX Ray spokes and Kinlin XR-31T hoops. Can't wait to get them!

I bought a new Selle Superflow SLR saddle since my Selle Bobcat has become downright uncomfortable for anything over 5-7 miles. I have the SLR on my other bike and like it but would like to try something else. I’m looking for the Fizik Antares Evo Adaptive R3 but they don’t seem to be in stock anywhere. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Bit of a buying spree: 1990s Diamondback Ascent (buyers remorse now), Campy 10 speed parts, and a DT Swiss Wheel set.
