That is a very well-loved bike; someone's pride and joy.

I wanted to say that, but as ridiculous as this thing is...it doesn't have a slammed saddle, negating its Fredmobile status.

Without jokes, I already wanted to ask the 40+ community to educate us, Europeans here a bit... was this a "cult" (like the US had the chopper guys on HD, then the British have the mods on Vespa/Lamretta, so the US have "these"), or some manufacturers show-off thing?

I grew up in the Eastern block, if you had the same crappy Soviet, Polish, Czech, rarely East-German or local bike BUT with a mechanical tacho in the size of a - then non-existing by us - microwave oven, you were the king of the hill. Whereas if you had any "western bikes" - thanks to expat relatives - you were a straight descendant of God.... only pro sportsmen dared to claim to ever seen Colnagos or Pinarellos (doubted by many), and only a few - in the whole country - filthy rich, politician's kids actually have them. So the list of extras were mostly limited to "choose a color" and you were lucky, if they had it in the year you visited the shop.

Never seen a front toaster brake before.

This does give me an idea though. I have a front dyno hub that drives the light and a USB port. With the right inverter I could power my ultrasonic cleaner and clean up parts while I ride.

Find a sufficiently rough road and you won't need power.

When I was a boy, I loved spending time in the Montgomery Ward, TG&Y, Gibson's, etc. bike aisles fascinated by all the accessories. This bike is missing a few of them that I remember. Turn signals and a big orange pendant on a flexible pole are a couple I can think of that this bike needs.
