22675924[/url]]Yup, that's the color. Spray.bike was easy to apply, though I couldn't get a gloss going even after using a whole can of their clear-coat, then a can of.... well, now I can't remember what it was, but I did confirm that it was 'compatible'... But it definitely looks good enough! Current hold up is that the VO JIS BB doesn't get along with the Stronglight 93 cranks (won't seat far enough on the spindle) . Probably will do dark brown bar tape, to go with the San Marco saddle on it. I happened to have the white housing, and it seemed to go with the decals/logos. I think it'll be a neat bike, though way too small for me- I plan to give it to a cycling buddy that has helped me out with a bunch of non-cycling stuff.
- did you find the Spay.Bike clear runny? I read the instructions as spray real close like the color. But when I did it was running like Meb K.
- square taper BB. I believe there are two flavors of square in the BB world. Is that what you got going? I believe the two should never be mixed.

Yeah, had to be very careful with the spray.bike clear or it would run. Supposedly 2 coats will get you a gloss, but I think I got at least 3 out of the can and it was more of a satin than a gloss. Maybe has more to do with the texture of the color coats underneath.

There's ISO and JIS square-tapers and from what I read they often can be used interchangeably.... though not always.... or maybe only in one direction... at any rate, the VO BB & the Stronglight 93 don't get along.

I have an old record player , definitely not high end. A few weeks ago I broke out a copy of Let It Be on vinyl and listened to it and it brought back a lot of memories. I remember being a teen ager and going to the local record store the day of release to get the latest album and studying the album cover(especially Moody Blues!) while I listened to the sweet sounds coming out. The sixties and seventies were not only awesome for bikes we would dream about , but THE MUSIC. My daughter LOVES classic bikes and always calls with questions about various artists or songs from "Dad's" era. I know way more about music than I do about bikes. She called one day to tell me about a song that came up on her play list , OMG Dad this is a great song! "Jet" by Paul McCartney, I just smiled...... and said yes!

I was working a spring cleanup and a house had put out about 30 boxes of albums. I tried to get a supervisor to take them for me but no go. Think my wife would have done the same, lol.

Me too probably.

Depends on how far out there you wanted to be, CB not a bad choice, one of the few that could be even less mainstream than Frank, Bongo Fury could also be a good call IMO.

Moody Blues

So great when the kid gets it. My son was raised on classic rock, imagine that.

When he was about 15 he comes and shows me a video of a 12 yo in Japan simply ripping Bohemian Rhapsody on a flamenco guitar, I love it when that happens, he so gets it, and often comes up with stuff I've never heard or seen.

I firmly believe if you struggle over music with your kids, many other things besides that may never be "harmonious".

The Beatles were faked, just like the "moon landing". 😋😁 Did youse all know, John Lennon's hair was actually red? I read that awhile back, when I found that Ginger Baker pic. And I know it's true, cause I read it on the internet.😁😉

Took my boys when they were 11 and 8 respectively to the Moody Blues (Ray Thomas had retired and it was Graeme Edge's last or next to last visit to the US while he was still drumming). To this day, they are still big fans. Justin Heyward spied the guys and had a huge smile/chuckle when he saw my younger dancing to Lovely to see you.

Time for decals on repaint of voyageur. What are the decals called between chrome and paint on the socks. Small pinstripe it looks like.

my son's first grade teacher was alarmed when asked who his favorite band answered Pink Floyd. Then asked what album, The Wall. All the other kids were one of the Disney promoted artists of the day.

this moment was related by the school custodian who was working in his classroom that day.

My son was trying to yodel Hocus Pocus by Focus in his 6th grade chorus and the teacher had no clue...then started going “de ne ne ne ne... de ne ne ne ne...ne ..ne ne ...ne nah ne”

I saw Patti Smith for the first time in Central Park in 1979. The second time was when I took my 6 year old twins to a Ralph Nader rally in 2000. They get a lot of things.

Yesterday was a day for helping top506 by boxing up a 30 year old rim for a build he has going. I decided to pack it pretty soundly since the thing is likely unobtainium. Smiles, MH

Mosckva 80 model rim.

Inner liner for the box to protect the rim in shipping.

Hey, what ya doing talking about bike wheels, in the classic rock forum? 😁😉

The Sacramento Bike Kitchen is open on Sunday mornings, and I dropped in this morning. I found a couple more chainrings to try out, and one's a keeper. It's a 44t ring, with no brand or dimensions marked, but it's black anodized, the proper BCD (130), and should work better (I think) than that 53t ring I had on. 🤔

I also got another 24t ring, made by Real Designs, but didn't realize it's alloy or aluminum, until way later. I'll just keep my steel Shimano 24t after all.👍

And while I had things apart, I put on a better spacer, for the BB. I'm still fairly new to outboard BBs, so learning as I go. Like don't re-use worn spacers. 🙄😉

Air quality was in the 150s, so no riding. I slipped out to the garage for a few minutes to install some new improvised leather bar tape. Racquet grip. This is the 25mm wide and 1.3mm of thickness and a little short. This is full length, so best for moustache or really narrow bars. It's not a super supple leather like LEH, much harder. I'm kinda optimistic it'll be good this winter. When I bought it earlier in the year, they had seconds available at a discount to the current price

Almost all of my albums are gone but I don’t remember reading the covers in those days. I recall seeing BOC warmup for Ted Nugent in Syracuse or some such place.
wrt wrenching: No one wanted my ‘77 Grand Jubile so I put it back in the rotation with seat post and stem to fit me, some 42mm Rando bars that get quite narrow at the ramps, and folding Pasela Protites.

This is before at the shop after a lunch ride out to the harbor. I will post after photo when I’m done. I never put hoods on these levers as I knew replacements were coming. The Cane Creek hoods fit the Mafac levers so that will be another improvement.
^^^ My favorite hubs! Campy Record HF with flat skewers , luv em. I have my 1972 Mondia at home now and on the stand. I finally got some nice Mafac levers to replace the Wiienmans that were on there . I had not replaced the levers or bar tape since my crash in 2017. The right lever had gnarly rash and worked ok but not perfect, the wheels had been replaced by the previous owner using 27” x 1 1/4” rims with the original Campy Record HF hubs and steel spokes that were discolored (can’t clean them). I am replacing the wheels with Super Champion Gentleman 81 700c rims laced to Superbe High Flange hubs ( Campy copies) with straight gage SS spokes. I bought 700 x 25 gum wall tires for it. At a later date I will put the original hubs back on the wheel set but I hate lacing wheels so I will probably have the shop do it. It will be nice to try this bike out with a much lighter wheel/tire combo and nice brake levers. The bike already looks better without the super wide black wall tires and large wheels , the handle bars are looking better with one side done with new tape , red on top and black in the drops and the nice lever and hood.

Some time ago I managed to get my hands on a decent condition Shimano Ultegra 6400 front hub with 32 spoke holes, and finally found some time to lace it to the rim to complete the wheelset. Used to run Exage on the front wheel. Of course, now it means that I probably have a front Exage 32H hub without a rear one, so probably time to get one, buy some rims and complete another build. Does it ever end?
The rims are Exal XR2. Very cheap, but also very robust and easy to build wheels with. For as long as you don't try to put an actual tyre on one, absolutely fantastic value for money. After you try putting a tyre on one... Well, let's say your vocabulary of swear words and curses will definitely be used in full
