I know zip about these but ?reasonable?

1980 Holdsworth “Special” 59cm Bicycle Frame Made Entirely Out Of Reynolds 531 Chromoly Steel For All Frame Tubes, Fork & Stays With Campagnolo Dropouts And Tange “Allez” Headset All In Very Good Vintage Condition

The Holdworth frame, fork and headset are in good "very little used" vintage condition with some very minor scratches, chips, nicks, pitting, flaking, rub marks and decal fading as indicated in the photos. But, no cracks, damage or abrasions. Since the down tube shifters and front derailleur were clamp on, this bike frame would make a great fixed gear or single speed build.

Includes: Lugged Reynolds 531 steel frame, Reynolds 531 matching fork, and Tange Allez head set

Serial Number – 030714 (1980 range of Holdsworth Serial Numbers were 023601 to 031400)

Frame also has a 2 stamped in the bottom bracket shell?

Awesome classic English high end steel frame set!

Size: 23-1/4” x 22-1/2” or (59cm x 57cm)

Actual measurements:

Seat tube:

~59.0cm / 23-1/4” CTC (center of bottom bracket to center of top tube - measured along seat tube)

~61.0cm / 24” CTT (center of crank to top of seat tube - measured along seat tube)

Top tube:

~57.0cm / 22-1/2” CTC (center of seat tube to center of head tube -
measured along top tube)

Head tube:

~18.0cm / 7” TTB (Top Of Head tube to Bottom Of Head tube – measure along head tube)

For build reference:

1" threaded steerer / head tube, 68mm English threaded 1.370 x 24 TPI bottom bracket, 100mm front 126mm rear axle widths, 27.0 seat post / pillar, 28.6 clamp-on front derailleur and shifters, nutted caliper rim brakes, mechanical groups

No affiliation,etc.
Deal of the day? IMO, a little late but no matter , great frame, history and all else, all good.

Ifn it is your size and close enough to you, I would beat feet forth with.

That is $20 well spent! Your groceries probably cost a lot more than that! Let's hope the seatpost is not stuck.

Somebody loved that Gran sport, lots of upgraded parts on there. IF it was my size and local, I'd buy it even though I don't need any more bikes because... I just bought the Rodriguez posted a few pages back! It's currently with a friend in Tucson until I figure out a way to get it back to me. Will probably move the parts to a drop bar mtb build on a Trek 9xx and build it up for my lady friend, I learned the Stellar line was designed for female bodies. Kudos to 365geoff on the mercier, really hoping for a build thread.

It is indeed a strong, light crank. Also, they really want you to know about the new bottom bracket.

Seriously, someone spent a lot of money and time fixing up that Gran Sport, and now someone (else?) badly wants it gone. I would buy it if it weren't 3000 miles away.

Thanks for the additional encouragement, it may be worth a 200 miles round trip then.

I'm eyeing this too but I haven't been able to motivate myself to drive into Boston for a bicycle.

It's more a dark, anthracite gray than black, isn't it?

Aww you lovely people, so supportive I'm staying firm. Wouldn't refuse a Vent Noir but other than that, black is for motorcycles IMO. My black Dawes is in line for a strip and paint.

Among the photos in the CL ad is a page from the catalog supporting that it is indeed black and a Campione del Mondo.

Posted 22hrs ago but still showing.
Ignoring what appears to be electrical tape for bar tape and duct tape (?) keeping the shifter housing tight to the frame, if seller has the front wheel it's well worth $50. I believe those are SL-BS77 9 speed Dura Ace shifters (probably used as friction but who knows as no drive side photo).

Stationary Exercise Bike - $50 (Mason)

Actual bike on a stand with front wheel removed.
