Today probably the last check for a group ride next sunday.
Only vintage cx bicycles for a tour on gravel, sandy paths, some mtb tracks, forest trails. As less asphalt as possible.

The weather seems to be okay, I'm enjoying it already right now.

Went back to my favorite relaxed riding gravel path place on my 1987 Schwinn High Sierra, the 5 Mile Creek Greenway/Cane Creek Rails to Trails at Black Creek Park.

Decided to skip the power lines lol

More from Black Creek

We got diverted so we reversed our tracks. Turned out to be an ace of a day. Union Pacifuc now and then. Shot of the train ferry in Richmond.

I took the Milwaukee single speed out today to explore forbidden areas:

I also wondered if I achieved the right timbre with this pic:

Nice ride along LA river bike paths today. 10 mile street riding to access the bike path. Was cool in the morning but nice temps in the afternoon. LA River south to Long Beach, down to Seal Beach, then north on San Gabriel River to Santa Fe Dam.
5:44 for 100mi, so I am happy/sore. I was suffering with some head winds 😟 In the drops for most of the ride.
Took this 1985 Univega Superstrada. What a great bike! Mostly Superbe Pro. Brake levers are 105, which are nice upgrade compared to the originals.
Found a broken spoke when I got home!

Had a great ride today, unbelievable weather, 60 km mainly on gravel, forest trails and fields with old cx bicycles and beautiful people.

A different kind of C&V ride today, wandering around downtown Birmingham on my 1998 replica of a 1948 Roadmaster Luxury Liner, a 59lb single speed bike.

Great bike!

Back in college, before I was serious about bikes, I would take long rides into the country on my 1950s Schwinn Hornet. On one of the rides, I got passed by my neighbor, who was a serious roadie. I was about 20 miles outside of town and he thought I was nuts.

I’ve had overly busy schedules these last two weekends but managed to get out today for 30 miles around the reservoir. It’s a beautiful rolling ride with views to kill. Could be the last decent ride for the season, the cold is arriving and I’m not a fan.

A really good Kielbasa and a beer at a trailside brewery in Duvall was my reason to ride today.
It was a race to finish it off before the bun disintegrated in my hands.

Then it was a race to get home before sundown afterwards...

My first ride of any substance in a while. Some home projects needed attention before the weather turned for the worse, and covid finally caught up with me.

Anyhow, Thomas and I got out on the White Horse trail yesterday and rode from Trafton to almost Darrington, and back. The weather was really nice, but a chilly 35 degrees when we started.

The Trafton trailhead. Starting point

I gotta say, these Cino jerseys are very comfortable. And stylish.

We had to hike a bike over about ten situations like this. Remnants from a windstorm about ten days ago. It left over 150,000 folks without power in Snohomish County.

An old schoolhouse along hwy 530

Whats left of the Fortson mill, originally built in about 1905.

Fortson Mill pond, with White Horse mtn in the backdrop.

More downed trees.

Today, I rode to a place that is very helpful if you also enjoy keeping your crappy, old appliances running.

Wrapped the bars with fresh Newbaum's yesterday. Rode to the hardware store this morning looking for amber shellac. No luck.

It was brisk. High 30's. Stopped for a hot cup of coffee on the way home.

A different kind of saddle time. To my elderly neighbor's garage and back. Likely more to come.

Went for a ride on my Nashbar Flashback cruiser with 7,600 of my friends. Did Bike Patrol duty - replaced a tire & tube, fished a jacket out of a brake rotor, and helped out at two serious single-rider crashes.

Ended up with just 44 miles, but stayed busy the entire day.

Nice to get out for a ride yesterday after a week on the trainer.

Cool. Along with my bike stuff, this year, I’ve acquired an X540 and that same 47 snowblower. I expect clearing my 100yd drive will be easier this year. Yoo hoo!

Yes, you will find it to be a game-changer. The last time we got snow like this I was using my (C&V) 1983 JD314 with a single stage snow thrower, which was simply not up to the task. X728+47 2-stage is like a hot knife through butter.
