A pseudo Gios that was really a Condor Superbe
Some of you may remember that I posted pictures of a frame for identification painted as a Gios but definitely not a Gios. The bike was given to me and my wife rode it for a while but decided she wanted her 1984 Japanese Bianchi to ride so it sat in the garage fir a few years until I decided to put some of the better parts on her bike. So I finished stripping it and decided to find out what it really was. Suggestions were made with a recommendation to join Classic Rendezvous where it was identified as a Condor Superbe possibly built by Bill Hurlow. I recently e-mailed Condor The serial number and after showing pictures they said it was a 1975 Condor built by Vic Edwards.

Those head lugs appear Nasty to mask off. It can be done of course, but it will test your patience.
How a how to sort of, look up Keith Anderson

search around and you will see some images of him masking. Probably the best out there.

It was painted as a Gios in Hong Kong by a friend of the guy who gave me the bike as he told me he was a racer who always wanted a Gios and so had it painted that way The head tube was a hand painted replica of the Gios head tube decal

Thanks for the link repechage for the link I've book marked it if I ever was to do it again I think I would spray the whole bike white and then mask what was to be left white then spray the red I painted the red which I,m happy with reserving the white that I began by painting with a brush never satisfied with how it turned out sanded down the white and sprayed white on the tubes. which turned into a disaster well for better or worse I've clear coated and built it up as my family were beginning to doubt would happen but it did allow me time to purchase components for it and I tried to be as close to 1975 as I could be

A few updates on the bike after getting tires for it and riding it for a while I noticed that the chainring was rubbing against the stay as shown in the pictures after measuring the bottom bracket casing I found instead of being 68mm it was 65mm on the CR list I was advise to make sure it was even on both sides and if so get to 1.5 mm spacers put one on each side and rebuild That is what I did and it now works fine.
A 65mm shell makes me think it was used as a time trial bike with a single ring on the front as I learned it is rare for a road bike but not so rare on the track

Excellent resurrection and thanks for updating us.
Missed the thread 4 years ago. I would like to thank you for turning the bike back into the brand it was built as. So often lately we read of people proud of their misguided rebranding.
Congrats to you.
