Enjoyed reading it, because I've got a (I believe) 1992 Diamondback Expert as my one 'modern' bike. It uses a Shimano RSX drivetrain with brifters. About five or six years ago, shortly after closing up the big shop in Montpelier and moving to Ashland, one of my most loyal customers drops it off for me . . . . as a gift. My size, I figured I'd ride it for six months or so, and then sell/trade it off. Obviously, it hasn't gone anywhere, and was probably my most common road bike for my Sunday rides with Poguemahone, until about a month ago when the free hub failed. It's hanging in the barn now, as I look for another set of seven speed wheels to put it back on the road, eventually planning on rebuilding or replacing the rear hub. One hell of a nice riding bike. I won't call it a keeper (it's not special enough), but I have a feeling its going to become one anyway.

So the Schwinn PDG Series 3 was built in Japan, at least initially.

I had a DB TG for a short while- it was 105, so maybe it was a Master? Either way, its the same frame as the Expert.
That frame always felt incredibly stiff and not light- so identical to what the review describes.
9/6/9 OS tubing and those stocky stays do exactly what you would expect- make for a stiff ride that is on the heavier side of things.

Between the frame angles, 408mm stays, and lack of flex- it really did noticeably jump when you would first start.
