Your Ride Reports - December 2021!!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your Ride Reports - December 2021!!

If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, we welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, we welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Are you an experienced road cyclist? Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? Do you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Touring? Audax/Randonneuring?
Or are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid?

There are no set challenges - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group.

Just pick the target that you would like to achieve this month and post updates throughout the month as you work toward your target. We love seeing photos of your rides and hearing all about them.

Given the current situation many of us will be cycling solo or indoors. Don't feel alone! Share your accomplishments with us.

No cycling yet.

We organised and hosted the ASH Dash 200 here in Tassie last weekend. 28 riders climbing all over the hills here. But we weren't able to get a ride in. Oh well ... it was great to see all the riders enjoying themselves out there.

It was kind of a mixed bag weekend for riding. Saturday I went to Upper Tampa Bay trail for 40 miles. The traffic was heavier than normal and I got run off the road by a passing FedEx 18 wheeler. Sunday I did the Picnic to Davis Is. ride for 42 miles.

I just started an 18-week plan from couch to century. Today was ride 1 of week 2 and I managed to 5 mi / 18:18 / 16.5mph. Now if I can just hold that pace for 20X the distance I'll be golden. ;-) But in all seriousness, that same ride took me 28 minutes a week ago. So hooray!

Wind-chilly ride in South Jersey today. The forecast underestimated the wind velocity; it really ripped across the open farm fields.

I had a great ride on Saturday in the Ocala Nat. Forest. Temps were in the low 60's and almost no wind. I was flying (for me) up and down the hills for 41 miles. Sunday rain was in the area so I opted for sawing up a pile of branches.

Got in some miles and hills on a blustery wintry day in South Jersey's Gloucester and Salem Counties.

I've been in Melbourne for a few days on business, so I hired a bike (through https://livelo.bike/ who do road bike rentals worldwide) and hit up the Beach Road.

A sold 100km both Friday and Saturday. Made some great new cycling buddies along the way! 😀

I took a 4 day weekend off and got in some bonus bike rides. Thursday and Friday did the Davis Is. ride for 32 and 27 miles. Saturday I rode to Picnic and Davis Is. for 40 miles. Sunday I went to Weedon Is. and added a few extra miles coming back through downtown. Total miles 42. Weather was great, but not very seasonal.

Oh yeah, I was okay. I kept an eye on the truck and bailed onto the grass. I was upright the whole time. The driver got my rare middle finger salute.

If you're fair skinned and forget the sunscreen, it's definitely possibly to get fried in a short time on those scorcher days!!

Getting in some solid rides for the Rapha Festive 500, kicked it off with 130km down to Clifton and Cremorne, then back up around the airport.
