Handlebar grip for retro flat bar bike: Leather or other? Recommendations?

I'm building up a flat bar bike porteur-style bike with a somewhat retro/elegant look. Can you give me some recommendations on "elegant" handlebar grips that fit the porteur style, probably leather or something similar, other than the brooks handlebar grip.

Also, anybody knows what the handlebar grip and thumb bar shifter on the pictured bike below?
The thumb bar shifter looks a lot like MicroShift or Sturmey-Archer, but not exactly - what can this be?

That grip looks similar to the ESI Chunky MTB grip.

Those grips look like ESI grips which are fine grips and would look good without needing to harm animals. My favored grips no matter what are going to be Ergon Grips in this case GC-1s (they are designed for swept back bars) and usually almost always BioKork because they look good and feel good and may possibly have some eco-friendly benefits or not.

If it has flat handlebars it has Ergon grips in my house (save for one bike that is waiting on them but is seldom ridden) Funny enough the only other grip I use where Ergons won't work is ESI grips on the extensions of my Koga Denham bar.

The shifter mounts and perhaps the shifters as well look like the ones Rivendell sells.
