Ideale 90B1-89 Saddle - Unfinished or special factory escape?
Happy thanksgiving BFers. Wondering what's your take on this saddle? Very few details that i can find on the web. It is missing the front cap with the logo, no plate on the back, the sides only have a nice cursive Ideale stamp, The under side is stamped with 90B1-89. I'm thinking may be a fake, factory escape, or a real special one of of a kind. .
Thanks
Thanks

Neither
after the original company went into receivership. There were some "continuation" production, I think from Belgium.
note the cad plated frame, lack of edge taper, "cheap" nose piece. Besides the non standard embossing.

here is a 90 nose when things were done proper. Could use a cleaning upon examination, all of the chassis hardware is chrome plated.
the current production have found their way back.

Did Ideale have the cover plate to the very end of original production?
Also looks like the "cheap" version could be made more presentable by cleaning up the end of that.

Highly unlikely that I will ever own one although I would certainly like to.

Interesting take on the saddle. I have 3 other Ideale(s) with the shinny nose, and the el cheapo notion never occurred to me on this odd one. May be i'm just a low rent district guy.... The leather on the el cheapo seems to be high quality and the stamp is interesting. May be i'll weight the saddles and the el cheapo will 'shine' on being a few grams lighter . Then we can call the missing nose a performance enhancement feature.

What is weird are the oversized rivets. Maybe the brand stamp ones were gone, so something to dress it up.
