Can you indulge me a rant?
I am 75 years old. Today the temperature is going to be in high 90's. I wanted to go to the gym early and get on the road by 7am. But today is Walmart day and shopping day. Today is also the day I had to install two air conditioners. All of that is done and it is 11am and 85 degrees. I can't ride later when the Sun gets low because it going to rain then. The gym is out. Now I will pump up my tires and ride through the dessert on a horse with no name. That is my rant. Take it or leave it.

Here's my rant. I've been digging out dandelions everyday since they started flowering in early May. A few weeks ago it would take me two hours to complete the task for my entire property but now it's taking three hours. I haven't been out for a long ride for weeks. And I might not until after mid-june when the dandelions stop flowering.
If you're going to ask me to get a lawn treatment, I'd say my lawn has been chemical free for thirty years and happily has wild strawberries too. So I'm not going back to contributing to algae bloom and dead coastal waters.

Years ago, I visited a friend in Kansas and she took me to a Walmart because it was an example of local culture. I told her it was fascinating, but it would never catch on back East because people value their time more there. That was my one visit. If only I'd bought their stock!
What's the matter with dandelions? They are much more interesting to look at than grass.

Its Sunday and no ride for me... Two days ago I found a warm spot on the dinning room floor and Isolated a 107° F spot two feet square.... RATS!
Friday rented an 80 electric jack hammer and busted out the area. So, I dug beneath the slab to find a hot water pipe streaming from a pin hole leak now 1mm in diameter. I cut out the section to dry out the system line after cutting off the water heater. Rats again, copper pipe and couplings are expensive. I silver soldered in a new section of pipe, rebeded the pipe with sand, and poured in new concrete. Now to bust out and replace the tile I had to go through, top off the slab, and replace and grout the tiles...
Ok... its just a rant but Rats again...
I am to sore to ride...

I am sitting here drinking coffee by my dog on the couch. I plan to do 12 miles today making 100 for the month, Then mow the lawn. I retired so my schedule is: Start late, quit early, take a lot of breaks, and a long lunch. It would take me days to put two air conditioners in.

Wow where does the time go? Started reading your rant(s) and forgot to start my ride! Now its 6:36 and starting this late in the morning will prevent me from stopping at Coffee Waves for that cold brew and snack (opens at 9). Life's getting tougher every day. It's mid-70s here, mostly sunny, with a few light fluffy clouds and a gentle cooling breeze. My wife has arranged for the wood burner to be serviced, has been shopping and is now cutting the grass. Meanwhile, I went for a ride and then a short paddle in my canoe. I may go fishing after lunch, or for another ride, or just have coffee and cake at the deli... tough decision... I take my responsibilities seriously! You guys need to sort your lives out!

Bill Cosby and Woody Allen, comedy icons while growing up but are now very unpopular in the eye of the public. I still enjoy watching Woody Allen movies, old and new. I think he's a brilliant writer and still continues to write unique and interesting scripts.
Rant on friend and why not? to the non cyclists out there, it might seem like whining or 1st world problems but to us cyclists, we get it and can completely sympathize. This time of year is always busy for me with tons of chores to do around the house. April was cold and miserable so didn't get much done and now we've moved straight to summer so I'm weeks behind. Riding will have to wait.
