Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Currently have quadball (formerly Quidicche) on. It’s a bit silly with all the players running around with broomsticks between their legs. One of my cycling friends has a kid that plays it.

Superhole is a better participatory sport since you get to hold a beer while playing.

Jewelry and a nice date night, and she is happy.

Doesn’t even need to be expensive jewelry.

Seems like you have it figured out. Funny you should mention that but Mrs John loves costume jewelry. The cheaper the better.

I follow Dee Snider on Twitter. It's comical how often people try to explain to him the meaning of the lyrics of a song he wrote.

Not to stray into politics, but he chastised a certain candidate for using his song this Tuesday.

I've been signing up for challenges on Strava. Back in June I signed up for a LeCol challenge, and ended up with a $60 discount, so I used it to buy one of their Pro jerseys. I checked the size, and got an XL. It definitely qualifies for the "If it zips, it fits" category - it's snug! Like paint! On the bike it's not a problem, but when I got back on Sunday after wearing it for my long ride, I was sitting there feeling like maybe my breathing was constricted a little - then I unzipped it and it was fine! So, maybe just a bit small. Though, again, it felt fine on the bike. Definitely doesn't flap!

OTOH, Mrs. GeneJockey likes how I look in it, so I'm keeping it!

I used the July challenge discount to buy a long sleeve Pro jersey, but this one I bought in XXL. I figure a base layer might make the XL unzippable!

We are definitely not going to make it.

Although Slippery Stairs could be amusing if it consists of clips of people falling down stairs. The best clips on AFV are of being wiping out doing stuff.

Not sure I want to know what SuperHole III is all about.

I've got a $60 voucher for Cafe du Cycliste and I've been handwringing over their hoodie jersey. I've been wanting one for a long time, and the sale + voucher brings it down to (IMO) a reasonable $87... but then there's $20 shipping!

I tried to buy a Sport jersey from Le Col, but the discount only applies to items over a certain amount. But the shipping is free, even coming from Merry Olde! And fast, too. I ordered the jersey the same day I ordered the seatpost clamp bolts, from Oregon, and the jersey arrived within 3 days, whereas I still waiting on the clamp bolt. Looks like it won't come today, either. If it doesn't come by Saturday, it'll be another Sunday ride without the Litespeed!
