Re-branded ALAN frames: a list
We know that ALAN (Italian made aluminum and aluminum+carbon fiber frames) were often sold under other brands...
Guerciotti was one very well known brand that sold MANY of these, but I'm sure there were dozens more (why the ALAN company was so eager to take on this "contract" work is a mystery, but I'm sure they had reasons, and made some money)
Contribute your examples...pix are almost mandatory.
I'll start with one I flipped
Fanini (a re-branded ALAN Carbonio, that even has the ALAN brand on the fork blades)
Guerciotti was one very well known brand that sold MANY of these, but I'm sure there were dozens more (why the ALAN company was so eager to take on this "contract" work is a mystery, but I'm sure they had reasons, and made some money)

Well,........ I'll man up and admit that my 86 ALAN Carbonio lived most of it's life since 1986 as a Nishiki, till I bought it a couple of years ago from fellow C&V forum member "schnibop".
What I understand is, Nishiki back then wanted to join the new CF band wagon, but did not have a CF bike ready to build and sell to the public, so they went and bought some Record Carbonio framesets from ALAN and had Nishiki decals applied on them. Otherwise the frameset is identical to the Carbonios ALAN sold under their brand name, identical down to all the gold anodized garnishes and "ALAN" pantographing on the frameset and the serial numbering pattern and maybe even within ALAN's numbering sequences.
Thank God the appropriate ALAN decals sets are pretty easy to find, so other than the careful application/alignments I had to do to install the decals using all sorts of images of ALAN Carbonio bikes, it was pretty easy to turn it back into an ALAN Carbonio. Thank God too that Nishiki did not get too picky and demanded ALAN to delete all the "ALAN" pantographing on the frame and fork, as the pantographing is a big deal on these ALAN frames.
Anyway, I think the bike never looked like any Nishiki that was being produced back then and the frameset was dying to get back it's Italian/ALAN Carbonio identity.....
BTW, I did leave one last Nishiki sourced decal on the frame.... see that one near the headtube saying "Carbon/Kevlar"? I guess that last decal keeps the bike "honest" about its interesting history.....

The Guerciotti re-labled ALANs were a bit more different from the standard ALANs as Guerciotti had their name pantographed on the framesets, and I don't think any ALAN pantographs were retained.

My Guerciotti still has the Alan panto's and I could not find any extra panto's on it.

Azzuri. No panto's.
Azzuri is probably an LBS sticker brand from Holland. Many had (and some still have) their own house brand with an Italian-sounding name, like Lanciano, Colnero, Cornelo, Cascarsi, Alimo and Loverdi.

Thanks guys, we already have some unique entries, at least unusual to us in NoAm: was the Colnago Duall Ergal known to have been an ALAN product? (it sure has some features that would say 'yes', but others I've never seen before on ALANs)
I've also heard about "lady's frame" ALANs, such as the Azzuri, but haven't seen one completely painted in any style.

I think there was a lugged carbon frame by Performance, made by Alan on Craigslist recently, but it seems to be gone now. No fork.

Well, possibly a new one to add to the list of re-branded ALANs.
"Milofrance" just posted a pic (In a thread about helping a bike shop owner price C&V CF bikes for sale) on the C&V appraisal forum of a "Peugeot 1000" that is obviously an ALAN Carbonio frame. I say possibly, as I never heard of Peugeot going to ALAN for bikes. It was always Vitus that they used for such, so, unless someone can confirm that the Peugeot/ALAN 1000 did exist, it is a bit questionable...... but could be one of those bikes that was just sold in Europe by Peugeot.

Here's a pretty rare one; a Tommaso/Alan, complete with a "T" on the lug. Built for Ten Speed Drive Imports as a house brand, "Tommaso" was for the owner's first name. This one is for sale in Lancaster, OH (not mine) and has what appears to be an early version of Campy Syncro. I had one BITD (an Alan) and if I remember correctly, the top tubes were pretty short, also a little too flexy for me. Mine eventually broke at the BB lug which turned me off to the whole screwed and glued thing.

(Note: The factory site suggest 1983 as their first carbon frame. This would be the Vitus carbon tubed.) Most consider it AlAN made though others claim Peugeot - in house, sourced lugs from CLB, used slightly larger diameter carbon tubes, bonded and unlike AlAN threaded + bond.

Recently was told of an AlAN made Gitane and one I hope to see very soon. I'm thinking the individual who has it must be mistaken and rather its a Vitus frame. Researching showed very little but here's a few pics from the Gitane site of an AlAN made.
