Thanks for the best wishes! Bike is potentially fine - I rode away from the crash just fine.

I'll have to get it on the stand and do a thorough inspection later.

Good luck to the job hunters .... stressful stuff.
We've gone through some downsizing the last couple of years. Glad it seems to have stabilized.

Decided to cancel plans to do Race Du Lac stage race in Lake Charles this weekend. Weather forecast is looking pretty lousy for Friday/Sat, and it looks like I-10 is going to be closed at the TX/LA border due to flooding from previous rains, so who knows how difficult it would be to even get there. I'm bummed, really enjoyed that race last year; but it would hard to justify the expense (2-night hotel stay isn't cheap there) given the likely conditions.

Backup plan is to visit my bother's family in D/FW area and do the Ranger Roundup RR on Sunday.

Bummer, would've liked to have met you. We're concerned about how that's going to affect attendance. Rumor has it that there's a way across from the Port Arthur area.

Of course, the folks living near the Sabine have other concerns.

Yeah, I hadn't realized just how bad things got over that way, seems like Houston area got off pretty easy in comparison.

I'm planning to make it over that way for the ITT and the Tour de Louisiane SR though.

The office of the Honorable Daryl Issa called Puppy Doge (Daniel) today and offered him an appointment to the US Air Force Academy.
He has 8 more colleges to hear from, but this was #1 (over some higher ranked ones), so cycling and rowing days to be put on temporary hold after Redlands and a bit of Euro stuff in May.
This is a bit more bittersweet than thought as the cycling opportunity is looking better, but he's just 5 miles from USAC HQ and a few more from the velodrome. So he can make the choice in 3 years between cycling and F35s.
I'll be looking for a therapist.

Boulder, Seattle, Portland are basically the other places I'd consider moving. Valygrl, know anyone hiring product development engineers?

You sure you want to encourage him to go for the F35? Seems like there is a new report out every day about how bad that plane is.

Mechanical engineer. Trying to stay out of manufacturing, and prefer to work on things that are produced in higher quantities.

Congrats. Now we can discuss PED use by the military.

Fun fact: meldonium was given to Soviet troops in Afghanistan to enhance their stamina.

I think that the amphetamine that Abdujaporov got popped using was used by Soviet pilots to stay awake, or something like that.

In line with the whole doping thing I used to say that if I was a general I'd want my guys to dope, if it meant they could do a better job. It's a tough balance, living/surviving aka winning the battle, versus being clean/er and dead. But then there's the "what if you win the battle/war and then die because of the dope?". So now I'm ambivalent. However, if it's war, and if it's about killing or getting killed, I think that a doped soldier that performs better is not a bad thing.
