Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This creates a real problem - how's he supposed to stockpile 7.5 bikes when Big Bike only lets the must-have upgrades trickle out every two years?! He'll be on tech a decade old before it's all said and done.

I agree! The guy also has a drag race team (he's the driver):

I guess your wife would just have to work harder to earn more! It's important that you be kept in the manner to which you would like to be accustomed.

At least that's what I told my wife when she went back to work last year. I have to remind her pretty regularly though since she seems to forget.

Yep. I bet he does have a few cool rigs. I'm thinking that may be a rent a racecar, but even so, hanging out with Erica is all good.

Cycling-related venting time:

I'm not the biggest stickler when it comes to itineraries, but I do understand that care needs to be taken when there's more moving parts/participants... but it seems as if some people haven't gotten the memo

Two weeks ago, the wife and I drove to a smaller city about 75 miles away for our first covid shot. While there, we cruised by a garden that she loves to visit. Being so early in the year, bulbs were just starting to fill out and send up buds, but that gave me an idea.

I asked her if she like to make it a family day trip and come back in two weeks, when a lot of the flowers would be open. I have a friend that lives in that area and he's been wanting to get in a ride with me - I'd ride my bike up in the morning, do the ride with him and then my wife would drive the rest of the family up and we'd head out to the garden and whatnot. She thought it was a great idea. I called my friend, he thought it was a great idea. I hammered out scheduling with both parties and set Saturday, May 1st as the day. Excellent!

Then two days ago, my wife says, "are we really sure that we want to do this day trip on Saturday?"

Well, yeah - you know that I made plans with my friend and that I'm going to be riding 100+ miles and that the day hinges on you being able to pick me up. "Well, okay..."

And then today, my the friend that I'll be riding with texts me, "can we do this on Sunday instead? I have a work training thing on Saturday morning."

Sunday is supposed to be 20° colder than Saturday, with a significant chance (60%+) of rain all day. Ugh, you're killin' me, people.

Think how much lighter you'd be without those heavy kidneys....

Not a rental. He's a part owner of Elite Motorsports, and partners with Richard Freeman in some other things as well (I get to do the legal stuff for Marty).

Former Radial Standout Marty Robertson Joins Elite Motorsports Pro Stock Program for 2020; Set To Compete At World Doorslammer Nationals | Drag Illustrated | Drag Racing News, Opinion, Interviews, Photos, Videos and More

No argument about hanging with Erica.

Dang! I got behind on my news. Being one of the guys that owns the rental is way more better. I know Bruno Massel drove that car, or its twin, in a few races, and got a pretty rude awakening. I expected him to do better, simply because he's a killer Sportsman racer. Come to find out, Pro Stock cars don't drive themselves

Or start location changes, too. That's part of what's so appealing about club rides. Show up at the same start at the same time, every time.
