Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

On every forum I frequent, I suffer un-repeatable issues. Sometimes I just need to dump.

First Sunday in long memory that I haven't ridden a bike. There's still time, but I don't see it happening. I rewired a pole lamp instead.

Today was NOT one of those days when the bicycle disappears under you and you feel like you could go on forever, like a cycling god. Somehow, between the ride two Sundays ago and today, the brakes on the Ritchey got 'hooty'. You know, you want to slow down and your brakes go "hooooooooot!" I need to readjust the toe in on the rear pads, I'm thinking. And the FD picked up a rattle/scrape that gets louder as I shift to smaller cogs. This is odd, since I haven't changed a thing in front in years, apart from the cable maybe 2 1/2 years ago. And there's a rattle in the front end, sounds like headset, but we'll see. I can't decide whether to nap first or work on the bike first.

The ride itself wasn't bad, apart from that. I was dressed just a tad too warm for the temps, except in a few places, like the shady bottom of canyons long the creek, where I was not dressed warmly enough.

I think the nap is winning.

We have been told that the ASTM level 3 masks they issue us at the door every day are adequate for casual interactions in the clinical setting. We have KN95s at home and wear them to the supermarket etc.
Do you wear the KN95s because the N95s have words on them?

What words? Bad words? I couldn’t find N95s for a price I was willing to pay and I figured I’d leave them for the pros who have to use them because they’re FDA approved, as opposed to the KN95, which is on an EUA. The only difference is the ear loops, right?

Non-residents pay extra tax when selling property. You can't have restrictions on moving to Hawaii any more than they can cap the number moving to Colorado. It's part of the fundamental right in this country to move essentially wherever you'd like; we do not have an internal passport as in China or Russia. Any such attempt would get smacked down as unconstitutional quite quickly. Hawaii is not a reservation.

They’re pretty hip now, but things like strength training and a high-protein diet took a while to break through. This guy’s emphasis was on riding insane miles and maintaining a Gandhiesque physique.

I have gotten in the habit of checking the headset by pulling the front brake as I'm walking to the street, before every ride. So my headsets never get to the rattle stage.

2 weeks ago the steelers were dead and buried and now it looks like they're in as a wildcard at 9-7-1. Is this an issue related to the new 17 game season? I don't follow the NFL closely but the steelers were the local team when I grew up. Strange ****. I feel as confused as seeds. No offense meant.

i don't like leagues changing the game. For example, I've hated the DH in baseball since it began.
