Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mickey's was my first legal beer purchase. It came in an 8 pack back then. No more?
PS I got lucky than night too.

Iron City. It was what we had in college when we couldn't afford Genesee.

A 40 of Mickey's would put me on my ass unless I nursed it for a while. Although I do drink regularly, I don't drink a lot and I've become a cheap date lightweight.

Ha,

Now that I think about it, maybe they were 4-packs that we used to get... I dunno. Can't remember.

A funny "the grass is always greener," thing: when I was a bartender at a Mexican restaurant, we had a number of good Mexican beers on hand (Corona being the absolute worst of them), but *none* of the staff, that were actually from Mexico, would touch them - they only wanted Bud, nothing else. I never did figure that out.

You are right about that. I once had a bunch of Hispanic fellers doing some stone retaining wall work at our house, and it was in the middle of the summer. I told them I was going to get them some beer for after work, and asked what kind. Most said Bud, but a couple said Miller.

It's the Merican dream, you know.

Some of these "crossover foods", for want of a better name, like Peeps Pepsi, or that bacon cheeseburger with Krispy Kreme donuts in lieu of a bun, are signs of the Apocalypse.

I was a Miller kid. That was probably thanks to an uncle who used to buy the ponies for cookouts. And because it’s the champagne of beers. No 40s back then. Only quarts. When we had extra money we would sometimes buy Malt Duck.

Ahh, I was trying to recollect just that point.

Probably a good thing.

Not to brag, but as of this morning, I'm 13 oz away from no longer qualifying for the Clydesdale Forum.

Mrs. John started baking again so I am in danger of re-uniting with the Clydes.

If Mrs. GeneJockey started baking, I'd probably be in no danger of gaining weight.

How does a nail get on a runway. That is the question of the day. One does not build structures on a runway, trucks are not actively driving up and down the said runway. Nails do not hold airplanes together.

I was doing yard work this morning and she wanted to warn me not to overdo it. She tells me "You're not 65 anymore". Ouch.
