Single gear crankset and bottom bracket advice
Hello --
I'm looking for sume suggestions for an attempted Cyclocross (like) build with some older equipment I have lying around, mostly what single gear crankset and bottom bracket would work best with the below for road and gravel use?:
Cassette: Shimano 8 Speed Mountain Bike Cassette 11-30T -- with a cog progression of 11-13-15-17-20-23-26-30
Wheels: 26"
Frame: Cannondale sm700 (from 1990)
Thanks - a bit lost here!

This is $43 for crank arms, chainring, and bolts. You choose the ring size.
Nobody here will know what chainring size works best for you. I will guess 36 would be good, considering your cassette caps out at 30. A 110 square taper bottom bracket got a good chainline on the bike I used...but that is a 73mm bottom bracket shell and 1x mtb. Not sure if how that translates for your frame. At worst, but a few bottom bracket lengths on Amazon and return the two that dont work.
There are an endless number of options that you could choose from for 1x cranksets, but I mentioned the above since it is relatively inexpensive and looks like that is one of your goals based on the equipment you mention. The crankset has loud graphics, but it has held up well for the last year and the narrow wide chainring works as expected.
